<------ I've had my Satin for one year this month-no issues whatsoever with the finish.
My Satin is coming up on a year. Very easy to care for. Clean up is fast and simple and very pleasantly surprised by the feel when my arm gets sweaty. Less slippy and slimy during these hot summer nights. No wear at all.
my first satin/Verdine I've owned for almost a year, just getting broken in.
my second satin/Verdine still has that new bass smell, so it doesn't count.

If you paint it with a thin layer of toothpaste, you'll have a nice fresh scent.Is it true that Seafoam Green basses smell like menthol?

Good to hear about the satin finish. Looks like the Sadowskys are gonna take a lot of playing to show any natural aging and that's fine with me. Can't what to get that e-mail telling me its ready.
I’ve been mostly playing my 4-21 (Koa/ash/ebony/hc’s) this summer...just love the piano-like clarity, with the edgy ash bite from this combo! Strung w/ Sadowsky Black SS 45’s. Here’s a new pic...

Thanks much...I feel very blessed! I’ve tried to spread the tone spectrum with each bass, so the music influences what to choose...but it’s a treat to have Sadowsky choices, for sure!

It was a one-off/concept build that Roger and Ellis spearheaded for me, working off of a crazy idea I had about a pickup that could do traditional P and reverse P...think of it like a P version of the Super J pickup. The resulting pickup absolutely nailed the sound of both traditional and reverse P as well as a very cool option to have all coils running! Feel free to PM me if you’d like further info.
I’m actually going into the studio tomorrow to play on my current artist’s version of Gravity by John Mayer. I’ll see if I can use the bare instrumental tracks to promote the bass, but if not I’ll record bass-only tracks here at home (gonna try it with an Apollo MkII Quad but may do it again with an Apollo x6 or x8, which have to be better in quality than what the studio I hired to record this bass back in late May/early June gave me).
Again, I apologize to y’all here in the Sadowsky club and to Roger, Ellis and the Sadowsky crew for not having this done sooner but ever since I got the bass in April my professional life and my personal life have been turned on their head several times by things such as a drama-filled transition from one main gig to another and near homelessness...only towards the beginning of August are things starting to cool down.

I think it would make a great single-pickup bass. Does it require the angled pole pieces, because I would think it might need a wider casing, or was that a sound preference? I'm wondering if it could also be wired to do a single coil arrangement like the 51/54 style.
That’s all stuff that Ellis would have to address. Honestly, I just went to Roger and Ellis with an idea when I decided it was time to commission my first custom bass and I did my best to sit back and not get in the way while Ellis worked out the specifics of the pickup.
Not sure about wiring it to a single coil P, but that’s an interesting idea (and in full disclosure I’m working hard on my end to commission a second custom Sadowsky that will be a 50’s single-coil P style instrument)!
