I've had a couple of no replies also a while back. Good to know its an issue and I wasnt being ignored! ( i was only trying to place a small order of shirts/ hat but paypal was a problem )

I saw that, and I am very tempted. (In fact, I've been spending way too much time on the Sadowsky site lately.) Don't know how I feel about the soapbars though. And the spacing between the neck pickup and the fretboard on a 24-fret looks a little tight.

Anyone care to comment on either of those thoughts?

Mainly a personal prefs thing. I’ve been somewhat unimpressed by 5 string J pickups, which just tend to sound somewhat weaker than their 4 string versions. So, for me, the soaps on a 5 make a lot of sense. OTOH, were I acquiring that particular bass, I’d most likely switch the bars out for Nordstrand Zen Blades.

Yes, a 24 fret J style bass has a tighter space between the board and the pickup. I don’t happen to have a technique issue with that configuration. YMMV

Hello folks, I've reached out via email to the Sadowsky camp on a couple of occasions and have not received a reply. Anyone experienced same? My issue is I installed a set of Sadowsky Bright Nickel Strings and the E string was completely dead. Has anybody else had any issues with these strings?

Shoot me an email at [email protected]. I'm in tomorrow and we can figure this out/get you a new E string.

Multiple NYC owner here...I was looking for a less expensive, light-weight Sadowsky to leave at work and play with (or loan to) my two student rock band bassists daily (elementary teacher by day)...

Amazing value! My new Metro Express is an absolute top quality build...the neck has superb feel/definitely a real-deal Sadowsky! Also, the Morado board is way more interesting/uniquely figured, than I expected...

For anyone contemplating a purchase...don’t hesitate to join the Sadowsky family with one of these ME’s!

Interesting. Wasn't aware of these. Found a cool little demo of these on a Devon bass with a Sadowsky preamp.

One thought for you to consider:

I’d recommend you think first about tone, second about configuration.

The Modern pickup placement vs one of the J configs produces a different tone. Not necessarily better or worse, just different. Important to be aware of the difference.

Also, good slap tone, at least in the classic sense, relies on thumping around the 20th to 21st fret to get into the meat of the string. Of course, nothing is absolute, and some cats thump closer to the bridge; but, the meatier tone is closer to the center of the string. So, the problem with the extended board isn’t the space left over for popping. The problem is that you are thumping further up the board and reaching for the pops near the board end. And, you have to compromise a little on that for comfort; but bottom line is I don’t find the restriction in the space for popping to be an issue on a 24 fret board with standard J pickup positioning. It’s more just a matter of living with the board extension. YMMV

For me, it doesn't matter whether it's a 20 fret or 24 fret board, I tend to slap right at the last fret or two and pop between the end of the board and the neck pickup, as you described. My 24 fret basses have a bit more room there than I see on the Sadowsky, which is why I was concerned whether or not it would be comfortable. And I really like the tone of the Zen Blades coming off that Devon 5, noting that the pickup placement was closer to that of the Modern 24.

Tonights gig. Ready to rock the Metro!

All cleaned up after last night's gig. Ready for tonight...

Only problem is, it's a 2017 and I had to buy a pan pot for it. The one in it is intermittent. Lose the bridge PU, comes back when I move the signal wire on the pot. It's the pot. Once the new one is in it will be the one for me!

I love the Sprucecore design. Really a clever concept. The price tag is a bit daunting however so when I saw their latest I had to wonder - did this nudge the sell into the 5-digit realm?..

I've been looking for a wiring diagram for swapping the pups in my metro from singles to NJ5S. Most everything I see online shows solderless screw terminals, but mine is definitely soldered directly to the lugs with no terminals in sight. Is there a diagram for this? Also trying to figure out what to do with the extra wires for the Nord HC pups. thx for any help.
