Also, while it's a distribution and licensing deal, Roger Sadowsky has been 100% involved with Warwick in quality control and development of the new Metro and MetroExpress lines.

As the guy who started this club, and as an owner of close to 20 Sadowskys over the years, I have full confidence that this is pretty much a non-issue to consider.
Sadowsky has a world-wide reputation as one of the top builders in the world. I wouldn’t second guess Roger and Co. decision for doing this at all.

But stand by for “pre-Warwick” Sadowskys with jacked up prices......

To me Sadowsky and Warwick are at opposite ends of the spectrum as businesses - and that includes their approaches to customer service. My experience with Warwick's customer service (after having to deal with a lemon of a Thumb NT that never should have left the shop of any company with a modicum of quality control) was utterly atrocious. After going through what I went through with Warwick I decided it was time to start dealing with a company that stood behind its instruments and offered real customer support. That's when I bought my first Sadowsky. To now see Sadowsky teaming up with the very company whose incompetence/indifference led me to Sadowsky in the first place is strange, to say the least.

I owned a number of Warwicks as well, probably about 7 or 8. my experience with their customer service was pretty good.
I had a used Thumb 5 Fretless where the truss rod took a crap. They replaced it at no charge.

When/if an issue arises with a Warwick Sadowsky, who will you go to for customer service? I would say naturally you'd first try Sadowsky, but will they then refer you to Warwick? If that is so, I can see why some would be concerned. Hopefully, Sadowsky will still take care of any issues with instruments that have their name on them. It's not like you have to contact Yoshi for Metro issues.

Congrats to Roger and the crew for the licensing deal. Definitely will be a great way to get more of the instruments out there.

I just hope the cs/quality stays at a high level as it has come to be known by. I haven't been impressed by any of the non-German Warwick stuff. Not that the quality was bad, just the ones I've played were lifeless instruments.

EDIT: I should be clear, my statement above was based on personal experience and this taken from the press release "....making available several lines of basses, strings and accessories at a wider variety of price points." That caught my attention and gave me question - but I do think this is very good for them in the big picture.

Hello guys, quick question, please.

The NYC PJ bass is in what rank, hierarchy speaking? Is it made in the USA shop? Is it top of the line, or a budget model?

A good condition NYC PJ 4 from 2004 would sell for how much, used? I ask because I found one locally, but don't know how to evaluate it.

The Sadowsky NYC line has been the top of the line, made in NYC. Pretty sure that hasn't changed.

I spent around $3800 for my NYC P5 that was ordered in 2004 and arrived in 2005. Mine's painted black with black pickguard, has a P body, P pickup with no J pickup. Upgrades: second pickguard (tort); birdseye maple fretboard. I also got the standard rectangular soft/hard case, not the nicer Portabag (though years later I upgraded to the Portabag, my favorite bass case).

Thank you for the information.

Seller is asking 1800 euros, but I have to ask for every bit of information, just one photo on the website, no details about the bass.

Not a good sign.
