$700 Sire are great basses. I guessing that $1,000 Sadowsky’s will be better. Genuine Sadowsky neck profile and good fretwork for $1,000 will be too good for me to walk away from.

I have a SIRE and ME...
Even tho the sire is installed with all sadowsky electronics... They are not be in the same ballpark.

Sire is a good bass at 500-600 range..
BUT the equal expensive new electronics wouldn't help..

It would be great if the metro express can keep the quality and lower the price..

I really like Sire electronics, but I always liked Sadowsky necks more than anything else about them. If the Rockbass factory can nail the Sadowsky neck profile and do great fretwork, they will 80% there. Sadowsky electronics are good, but less elaborate than Sire. I am not worried about drop in electronics quality.

Wood quality and weight are the big part too..

Found the bass boost on sire pre are way too boomy and too much rumble..

I have faith in Roger Sadowsky. The Chinese Sadowsky will be cheaper, but it won’t be cheap.

I've got a first gen Sire, and it's a pretty good bass, especially sound-wise. But their weaknesses were the low quality woods, hardware, and sheer weight of those things - I mean mine hovers around 11 lbs or so.

If the Warwick/Sadowsky Metro Express basses come in under a grand and keep the light weight, great tone, and quality woods, I can't imagine many folks opting for Sires anymore.

I have a Sire V9 which is great value for what you get. Sadly, they've bought out Version 2 models now and the V1 models like mine are selling cheaply, making my used bass as cheap as chips.
No point in selling it as I'd only receive the price of a pair of decent pickups. It's now basically a decent throwaway bass. How low can the bar go?

When it comes to Warwick-made Sadowsky instruments, three different price ranges will be available:

• MetroExpress Line, manufactured in the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] . The prices will range between 799 and 899 euros.
• MetroLine with 100% production in Germany, comparable to the quality of the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (here, for example, very high quality UV coatings are used). The prices will be between 2,090 and 2,890 euros.
• Sadowsky Masterbuilt: This series, which is also 100% made in Germany, forms the upper end of the range and is qualitatively comparable to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] . The instruments have tone chambers, for example; special designs will also be available here. The prices are (without Custom Shop Options) between 3,100 and 4,500.

I think you're selling yourself short a little bit on Gen 1 Sire. They're not going as cheap as you think because while they have their shortcomings, there is a bit of a cult following to Gen 1. It really hasn't been a sellers market lately for basses and in general, there's a lot of inventory out there dragging prices down on virtually everything.

I have a V7 second gen which is a perfect backup for me or for not great outdoor weather gigs. I had a gen 1 v9 that I recently brought back to GC because it was simply too heavy for me, plus my Verdine White finished earlier than expected and had to pay for it. The 2 Sire's were very close in comparison sound wise and fit n finish but I like the satin neck much more. In short the Verdine White blows them out of the water in every which way possible. Sadowsky uses solid hardware that's more easily replaceable no matter where the bass is made if need be but good luck with Sire, gen 2 is even harder.

When I play one of my Sadowsky's I simply smile every time, that's all I can ask for because I look forward to the next practice, rehearsal, or gig where I know I'll be playing a Sadowsky. Hopefully with the changes more players around the world will have that satisfaction from MetroExpress on up.

Question I ask myself: if my 'competition' has that world-class Sadowsky tone that kills every mix ... what edge will I have? Will I have to actually practice again?

First, i'm sorry for my English. I hope you will understand me (I'm from Corsica). I have an Jazz Bass Sadowsky 5 strings Nyc made in 1999. I really love it but i don't have vtc. I want to order the retrofit kit but i didn't find someone in France who has already install it on his bass. So i try here. Is it difficult to do it ? Thanks.
