My Sadowsky Ash/Maple Metro Express with flats , I see allot of folks asking about flats on an ash/maple jazz bass. I have been using them on this bass for quite a while now , super fun. This is just a late night rehearsal mistakes and all but with headphones you can hear the tone nicely .

My own schedule for replacing flats is...never. In my 7.5 years on the low end, I have never had occasion to restring a bass that sports flatwound strings. YMMV.
Good lord what is the guitarist playing? His tone is fantastic (sorry don't mean to digress from the Sadowksy bass)

Maybe if you do one of those genealogy things and find there’s .0001 German in you it can justify making it an epic trip to Germany? Just trying to help. Or maybe if you call ahead to Sadowsky in NY they can have a stein waiting for you. Ok I’m really off on a tangent now. Sorry was just taking a break from working in the studio all night. I’m sure you can still make it an epic experience getting a Sadowsky for your 50th somehow.
I will post a family photo soon. The new (to me) Metroline PJ hybrid is as phenominal as the other two, an ME and a Metroline JJ.

The NYC satin fits the bill
He is a fantastic guitar player and I really wish the camera was positioned on him and not me . He is actually playing my Godin guitar thru my old Yamaha 100 watt tube amp and all his pedals , you can see some crazy pics of his set up thru our Facebook page our band is 3ofWe , thanks for checking it out.
I'm not surprised Godin makes good guitars, I had one once and sold it because it was a holy body acoustic jazz and it just wasn't what I needed. The truth is I've been looking for a tele but may consider one of these now thank you. (It looks like it's a multivoice)
Excellent point here! I’d imagine if I were to take a trip to Warwick’s factory to see the Masterbuilt Sadowsky line I’d have to do it around Oktoberfest so I enjoy the festivities while over there. Did that trip once before and it was an incredible two days in Munich!
I'm very Interested to see and hear the Germany stuff. However after owning a few Nycs over the years all of which were superb, as of today I was lucky enough to buy the last Olympic white metro express 5 in guitar guitar UK. I hope they are as good as people say. Any opinions on them?

I love my ME 5'er. There are fine points that are not up to NYC standards, but you could have 3 MEs for the price of one NYC. Soon you'll be able to get six for the price of one! Lol
Control cavity isn't as neatly dressed as a Metro or NYC. Not a deal breaker. I sold a beautiful Fbass BN5 after getting the MetroExpress fwiw. I also sold a beautiful NYC Satin after getting my Metroline so maybe I'm just not as discerning as some...

It will be a cold day in hell before I part ways with my Satin NYC. It’s not a true NYC custom per se, but I asked for mine to be built in Pelham Blue (a colour not listed on the ‘available’ colours guide) with Morado board so, to me at least, it IS a custom build. Now that Satins are out of production, I think mine may be the only one in Pelham Blue.
Morado appears to be slightly lighter in colour and have a more visible grain than Rosewood. Tonally, I don’t know. I had to have Morado because I am in the UK, and export/import of Rosewood was at the time restricted by CITES regulations. I probably would have chosen Morado regardless. I like how it looks.
Morado is also known as Bolivian Rosewood or Pau Ferro. The appearance can be dark or light brown. This is the Morado on my ME:
