That’s my favorite Sadowsky look. Mine is currently wearing an aged white pearl pickguard, just for a change of pace and because it’s cheaper than buying a new bass

I wear belts with an O-ring buckle so the protruding part is cloth or fabric and doesn't damage the basses.
I don't mind a bit of relic'ing but not belt buckle vandalism.

I have found that a casual investment in Cheetos, fried chicken and microbrews has given me a natural belt buckle rash prevention mechanism. I’d have to do some pretty weird s**t for my buckle to ever come in contact with a Sadowsky finish...

I recently purchased a tobacco burst MetroExpress (one of the last Japanese builds) Jazz basses and it is stellar. I have a NYC satin Modern which I love.... and I guess I have the itch to replace the MetroExpress with a satin NYC Jazz. Your counsel please. Stupid idea or go for it!

My MetroExpress is still mint with plastic wrap still on pick guard and electronics cavity.

OK. Send that one to me. Then look for an NYC satin. Happy to help.

Thing is, Sadowskys are all stellar. Some are just a bit pricier.

My fav J pickups by a LONG shot. Notably, the neck pickup produces a solo tone somewhere between the 55 P single coil and the 57 split coil; a VERY workable P tone. And, that is at zero sacrifice for all the other J tones. Coupled with Roger’s preamp, that package is the deal; especially for dialing in different Fender tones on the cover gig.

(image-heavy post) I also like my vintage Fenders with naturally occurring mojo. This one is a '64 I acquired in '89. It was pretty much in this condition when I bought it. I'm doing the best I can to keep my 2019 NYC pristine, while playing as much as possible. Good Q. Fortunately the 4 stringers are the standard J footprint; though that was a question before the build, and the shop had to verify it.

5 stringers are a different matter. Delano offers the sets in either the Fender (referred to as l/s) or Sadowsky (referred to as l/l) configuration; but, you have to be careful to get the spec correct. The Sadowsky configuration has both shells the same size for 5’ers vs Fender has the shorter neck shell.

Have to say that if I were specing a 5’er, I’d probably go with Nordstrand Zen Blades, which I like just a little better in the 5 string format. FWIW.

Just got off the phone with Ellis, and I am pretty excited about a 40th Anniversary build! While I have lots of "fancy top" basses (and Sadowsky has some of the nicest tops in the biz), I have always loved their Candy Apple Orange finish, so I think that's my plan. I definitely want a matching headstock, and I am a big fan of black hardware. Don't see many (any?) Candy Apple Orange (or Red) Sadowsky's with black hardware. Do any of you have this configuration or know of any pics?

Also trying to decide between a tort or parchment guard (might get both), so pics of CAO finishes with different pickguards would also be something I'd like to see.

The Sadowsky CS is just awesome. I hit up Carl on tuesday for a replacement strap for my portabag, they offered to replace it for free! I ordered a t-shirt and some more polish just to make shipping worth it. Box is arriving today. Thanks so much for getting it out before the shutdown. I really appreciate the work you guys do!

Now if i can just get D'addario to send my replacement for the bunk cable they sent me with my players points. Been two weeks now with no response from them at all.
