Seems like every Sadowsky bass on this site looks amazing. I have a NYC 5 string. As of late I have been playing mostly 4 string. But unfortunately, considering the times a 4 string sadowsky is out of the question. But not out of my wish list. Keep showing those basses so I can keep the momentum going.
Been doing some gigging in the living room lately, and I have a small tour of the master bedroom, hallway, and laundry nook coming up in a couple days. The Verdine is getting the call for this run, only bringing one cab though. Still trying to figure out why my fuel costs are through the roof, but I'm confident we'll make it to the master bedroom before soundcheck.

WOW!!!! Nice NYC, what are the specs on this sexy thing?
It's one of the very first Verdine 5's. I had Lisa cut me a guard as this one has the traditional style neck pocket, not the deeper one you see on the more recent non-pg models. I couldn't hang with the gap.

Really got me thinking hard about that configuration. Classic J. I've got my ash/braz PJ5 and have struggled to find a JBass I really fall in love with. Thanks for posting that!

Yes for sure. But it is quite in the response you feel when you play it. In a blind test..I’m not sure.
Ash maple feels ‘quicker’ and less forgiving. Rosewood alder a bit dirtier, warmer, less ‘in the face’

The alder/braz RW PJ5 I had (BluesyCat has it now) had more spread to the low notes, and the one I have now, heavy-ash, Brazilian RW, has a bit more attack on the low notes. If I play a bit more towards the neck, it gets closer to that alder spread, but is in general tighter down there. Works for me in the mix, and I've had flatwounds on it for the last 6 years or so.
The ONLY thing it won't do ... of course ... is that classic RW Jazz Bass slap tone, that I love and crave. The only lightbulb moment I had with JBasses, and I'm a P Guy through and through ... was getting to gig a 66' JBass, alder/rw/single coils/block inlays. That thing had me doing things playing-wise I hadn't even thought of. A snappy hat appeared on my head and my right thumb seemed to be permanently extended.
If I'm being honest, the next build I really want is:
PBody
MusicMan Pickup
Heavy Ash
Brazilian RW
Sea-foam green to match my PJ5.
Maybe inlays if I'm feeling frisky.

YUPPERS!!!! I still have your PJ5 and I love it!
And the next build I would want is either a solid alder P bass w/RW board or one of them new Super P/J configs - YEOWZA!
Do not even try to ask me. LOL! Tully and several others asked me regularly. Nope.
