Club Sadowsky!!!

This Satin Series 5-21 Vintage is on its way to me now. Very excited about owning my first Sadowsky! I have a tortoise pickguard coming with it, which I’ll use. My main players will now be a Lakland USA P bass and this Sadowsky J Bass. Roger is a fantastic person to do business with, by the way.

Good for you- I was very tempted by that one (and I would have got a tort guard too, so excellent choice ;)), was actually sad to see it gone from the site. However, now there's a dakota red one to tempt me... :rollno:

NBD! Just picked up this sweet MV5 Ash/Maple. It weighs right in at 9lbs 1oz. I’ve wanted another one of these for a while, and this one is particularly good. It’s been played a lot and the neck is nicely broken in. Nice to be back in the club! :bassist:
that's pretty much identical to my old nyc, especially if it has single coils in it. damn i love that bass. real no frills tone monster and workhorse!

So, feel free to talk me into or out of this idea.

I've been a Sadowsky guy for the last 12 years or so, with a 4 and 5 string Metro. Love them to death and the 4 is my firm #1.

I recently had the opportunity to pick up a Non-Reverse Gibson Thunderbird. Smitten by the look and really enjoying it, and not the same beast tone wise.

Been pondering a Sadowsky pre-amp in the 'bird. Only three knobs on it, so I would skip the pickup blend, either tucking it in the control cavity or chopping it out. I change tone by moving my hand, and never use the blend anyway.

Will this even work? Am I nuts?

As long as you aren't trading a Sadowsky away for it then you do you.

Assuming the "bird" pickups are passive, yes. But there are other pre-amp options that are scalable, even down to a treble/bass stacked control, master volume and blend (or midrange boost) No point in buying more preamp than you are going to use. Sadowsky has a great outboard EQ pedal, which would be a one and done proposition.

Just get the outboard preamp and use it with the Gibson.

This one does not have the single coils. My first thought even before receiving it was order a set from Roger, and I may still do so. However, the bass has a pretty aggressive and open sound to it with the HC's. I can tame it with the VTC, or leave it wide open and let it bark.

NEED SADOWSKY STRINGS!!

I would recommend you get one of our preamp pedals instead.

Try some singles. Just saying. :)

ok, then i'm trying to talk you out of it. like others (especially Roger) have said, just get the pedal. that way the bird can still be the bird any time, and you can still have the Sadowsky pre any time you want it.
