Yes I'm very happy with it. It took me a while to get the setup the way I like it. Changed the strings (Sadowsky Blue Label Steelstrings 045-130T) to the bright nickels SBN40B. Much better. Doesn't sound exactly like my Fender PJ, but more neutral with more (possible) lows and highs, if you wish, controlled by the VTC. But still sounds the way you would expect: Round, warm and full in the P-position, Jaco-like in the bridge position and a nice rock sound in the mid. It's all there: from Motown to metal, from jazz to funk and from reggae to rock and roll. This weekend i'm gonna use it with my band Generate. We play rather heavy symphonic progrock and we are working on some new songs.

Shout out for the MIJ MetroExpress that I'm still in the honeymoon phase with. Got it just in time for two gigs before the shutdown arrrgh. Anyway.....great fretwork on this instrument, so consistent playing up and down the neck...best way to describe the playability..."polished".

Nut seems ok. I had several Warwicks, but I don't think I ever needed to adjust the nut. A-string level is better after changing the strings and fiddling around with string- and pickup height, but it is still a little weaker. You hardly notice it when you play fingerstyle, but when you play with a pick you can hear it a bit. But hey, who uses a pick on the bridge pickup? I don't. The tuners are new ultra lights specially made for Warwick / Sadowsky. The super light bag is a new one and will also be used for the MetroExpress. And yes, bag is made in China.

I'm not really a fan. The other problem is, the graphit/tech version is prone to snapping if you're not careful when stringing the bass.

Seems like a "nifty" solution to a problem that doesn't really exist, with negative side-effects, IMHO.

FWIW, Warwick has been in love with this feature of their instruments for years, so I'm not at all surprised they put this "upgrade" on their Sadowskys. That said, I don't want to blow the negatives out of proportion. It's not that big of a deal. I'd just rather not have it, personally.

I personally don’t want anything “Warwick” on a Sadowsky: no adjustable nut, no Schaller-style straplocks - nothing. If the bass has to be made by Warwick then so be it (though I’m not a fan of the idea) but I’d prefer to see it strictly as an outsourcing of labour type of affair. Otherwise it just looks to me as if Warwick got hold of the relevant CNC data and slapped “Sadowsky” on the headstock.

When I’m done, I will order directly from Roger and Ellis at the NYC Custom shop, I’ll wait the 10-12months and Pay the custom shop price as I trust the quality from Roger directly. I have never Had to adjust anything coming from Roger everything has been spot on perfect when it arrived (I have ordered 4) that has always impressed me. There is a reason why so many folks speak so highly of Roger and his crew, they deserve it.

I did the same thing recently, for the same reasons. I’m honored to be able to play these fantastic instruments, and as good as the Metro series was in my hands, my NYC’s have a special ‘something’ to them.

For a bass it is 22" x 14" x 2". Ideally you want a board 44 x 8 x 2". You then cut it in half to make a 2 pc. center seam body.

I understand, I just don’t like to see Warwick’s footprint on a brand that has been dear to me. Admittedly, it’s mainly sentimental bias on my part. I’m just not a Warwick fan.

I’ve had both good and bad experiences with the basses. The customer service I received when I had a problem with one particular bass was really unimpressive and it’s what, funnily enough, led me to Sadowsky. At that point I figured that if I was going to be spending a lot on a bass I wanted to deal with people who offered great customer service (something I have always gotten from Sadowsky).
