Club Sadowsky!!!

Indeed! When see remarks to the effect that Sadowskys are Fender clones, I always laugh. Clearly the folks who say that have not played a Sadowsky.

The P-bass I wanted all my life turned out to be a Sadowsky. :) Still true after 15 years.

I'm not throwing shade at Fender. I've owned and played some amazing P-basses over the years. Just sayin' that Sadowsky is what I'd been looking for: top tone, top playability, top quality.

Ok, I’m in. I’m lucky enough to have grabbed two of the last three lefty satin series Sadowsky Basses that were made. They’re both now my main players for everything I do.

Honestly can’t say enough good things. Although I’m sad that this incredible value is gone (especially for us lefties), I feel incredibly lucky to have been in a good enough place where I could acquire them when they became available - and I’m also thankful to Roger for adding a few lefties to the stock list.

Anyway, I don’t post much anymore, but I lurk a lot. Hope everyone is staying healthy!

Long time lurker, but I figured I’d share a family pic and request a member number.

I got two of the last satins as well. I also think I may have the only Modern 5-24 Ash/Maple in Silverburst (ordered 12/31/2019). It just came and I think it looks amazing. Now, I have one too many I believe lol, so something may have to go in the future.

this fender vs sadowsky thing comes up all the time. at the end of the day, they both have a solid place in the lineup, but for those that end up bonding more with the sadowsky basses as i have, the experience usually goes that they try it out solo, sounds ok, but what's the big deal. then they play it with a band or tracks, and the light goes on. lol
Dude that is the absolute truth!

I felt that when I really started playing it for some time the new Sadowsky sounded off.

Then I started playing some tunes through my monitors, and holy cow, I can hear my bass now, cutting through.

Today my buddies came over and started practicing in the studio.

Without a doubt in my mind, with the identical amp settings, I can hear more of what I was playing.

And that is not in my head.

Does anyone know how exactly was old Metro wired? The one without VTC. Was there a passive mode? Thanks.

Exactly like the old NYC basses. Same preamp, same wiring. One of the knobs is a push/pull for active/passive, no idea which one though.
BTW, early Metros (like the one on your pic) had the same US Hipshot bridges as nyc basses. Shortly after they moved to licensed hardware for the Metroline.
Of course I may be wrong.
