So I’m looking at putting back the original EMG 40J’s into my 93 Modern. I just want to verify which wire is going to power side of coil and the ground. I’m assuming red will be power and the white ground but stranger things have happened.

It’s awesome playing with the custom order configuration tool. I have shell pink instruments so I’m thinking of commissioning a PJ shell pink body and matching headstock. Amazon rosewood board with a mint guard. Maybe next year depending how things go but a guy can dream right

If you strip back the white, you will see that it contains both the hot and ground for the pickup inside the white insulation. The red is for the battery. There is no "power side of coil". I am sure you can find a wiring diagram on the EMG site.

thanks! I tried but EMG didn’t have any with the older style diagrams that I could find.

I've been trying to get comments from anybody about how these sound different compared to the previous split ones, or the ones you get in the Metros. Care to opine?

The stack sound more lively and closer to single coil than the other two (green+red wire and black +white wire)

Yes. No disrespect intended, Roger. As I said, I'm prepared to be delighted by the new product lines! Still, the MIJ instruments hold a special place in many of our hearts, as well as the NYCs. I say this as the owner of an NYC and two Metros.

I agree...the Japan-made instruments were amazing. Nothing is going to change with the NYC basses. If anything, they will be better than ever. And I will work with Warwick to ensure that everything new will be worthy of my brand.

You can see that I swapped out the white PG on the CAR MetroExpress for a tort:

These are my third and fourth Sadowskys; the first two were a UV70 Metro and an RV70 Metro. I also had a '72 Jazz with Sadowsky electronics that was a total beast. All three are gone, and I miss them. These two won't be going anywhere. I play fretless the most, so I am stoked to have an NYC FL finally. The MetroExpress is probably the sweetest-playing fretted bass I've ever touched, and also the brightest Sadowsky, which makes it the most versatile, as that brightness dials back nicely with the VTC.

There are Nordstrand JB-NJ4SE humcancelling singles hiding inside those soapbar shells. The soap shells provide more of an anchor to rest against than the singles.
The body is okume, and the neck is maple with an eboly board that has some nice chocolate figuring. A beauty all around.
