Here's my new Will Lee. Very excited about this one. I definitely prefer the Will Lee neck and electronics specs compared to my former Sadowsky basses.

Man, that’s nice! The small little tweaks on the Will Lee 5-strings make a big difference to me.

Playing just EBMM for a couple of years made me realize just how big a difference something like a 1.75” vs 1.875” nut width can make.

Beautiful bass! Wow, the last satin and maybe one of the few, it not the only satin with the coil switch!

Me, too! I greatly prefer the narrower nut width on a fiver. Much more comfortable for me, playing one-finger-per-fret in first position.

Is anyone aware why Mr. Sadowsky chose to build his jazz basses with undersized bodies? Was it in order to reduce weight or was it a tonal choice, or neither?

I don't know, but I love it!! Undersized bodies are the way to go, on bass and guitar.

I believe that bass was a Guild Pilot.

Indeed it was. But yes it’s nearly the identical color to the Modern first seen in ‘88.

I believe Roger started out catering to NYC musicians, so a downsized, reduced weight Fender Shaped Object makes sense.

I wouldn’t think that the size reduction is significant enough to make much difference re: commuting through the city, but I’ve never carried a bass on the subway, so what do I know?

I’ve done this countless times over the past 40 years. It really doesn’t since the cases are pretty much the same size.. give or take a few inches.

In the NYC Subway.. there are no commuters friends.

I am just kidding.. I have been on the Subway with my Basses for years and have never had a problem. As long as you’re not banging into people and use common sense when traveling.
If it’s late ( 8:00pm forward) I always take a cab..
