Seriously, I think a Vintage 5 with a figured top and trans finish is really the coolest and best looking Sadowsky instrument of them all. I hope this goes home to a TBer, I would love to see the gig pics on this hottie.

Applied correctly it is a kind of insulating packing material. Sturdy folk up there.
Tim is all good about it really. Hoping the blue berry fritters start making an appearance soon.
In praise of the mid boost switch on my Japan Will Lee 4. I don't use it all the time but it adds so much versatility to what is already a wonderful bass. And it's effect varies significantly depending on where the tone controls are set. It certainly pays to familiarize oneself with the huge tonal palette available on this bass, I am still learning myself.
Hi guys, any idea how to order a tort pickguard for a 4 string jazz NYC satin? also there is tort and tort and I am looking for a dark one. Where do I get the info? should I check with Warwick distribution?

I have an alder/maple that I like a lot. Not the typical Sadowsky combo, but there are a few out there. In fact, one of the new ones on the stock page is alder/maple:
I have two, non-Sadowsky, Alder-Maple basses (USA GL Jazz and EBMM Cutlass) and both are great basses. I’m definitely a fan of the Alder-Maple combo. Not “the norm,” but based on my experience a good mix.
Any experiences with Ash-Morado/Rosewood to share?

My WL-5 is Ash/Morado and I think it’s a great combo. But, to my ears, Morado is closer to Maple than it is to Rosewood. Doesn’t quite have the snap of Maple and is definitely not as warm as Rosewood. Sits pretty well in between the two. So with an Ash body (no top on mine, just chambered Ash), my bass is real close to the Ash/Maple combo (closer to that IMO than its is to an Ash/Rosewood combo) just a little more subdued up top. Of course, YMMV, but that’s how I’m hearing it vs. the other wood combos I’ve had/played.
