I've found a couple of German Metro Will Lee's online but they are both 9.4 and 9.5 lbs. I guess I was hoping to find a lighter one. Anybody have feedback on the balance of the Will Lee model? In other words, do I want to go heavier for balance purposes?

Is the Sadowsky 4-Knob Onboard Bass Preamp available for purchase? I have one of these in my NYC PJ5, love it, and wanted to purchase one for a build I'm considering. The online store link referenced in this link below comes up empty.

There seems to be an ebb and flow to the supply of Sadowsky onboard preamps. They sell out everywhere, a new group of them are built and brought to market, they sell out, and the cycle continues. Sometimes you have to hunt them out at dealers.

The pres are only sold by Framus/ Warwick now, and they’re out of stock. Looks like they have one at Fretnation:

It absolutely SLAYED! Amazing sound. The low B was monstrous compared to any other bass I've used. Playability was amazing - the bass almost plays itself. The thinner, roasted maple neck feels so great and doesn't cause my tendonitis to flare up.

This German model sounds more like the original Sadowsky Modern basses that had the EMG pickups. Well, at least to me it does. The last Modern I had didn't have that buttery, sweet, punchy tone that they are famous for. This one has it in spades. Initially I was thinking about putting Nordstrand FatStacks into it like I did my previous Sadowsky modern. But I'm thinking twice now. These pickups are killers and I'm loving the tone.

I've been on a bass buying binge lately, but I'm about to put some stuff up for sale I believe, because I've found a keeper in this instrument.

Hi, I'm curious about the new limited series German Modern 5 - is that you have? And another question Metroline or Masterbuilt? I think the secret of its sound comes from solid or chambered body.. with the wood selection of course.

This is quite exciting news and could lure me to a German metroline. Roger used to say that the only reason to buy NYC over Japan was if you wanted a chambered body or more custom options. If the metroline comes standard as chambered then that is huge for mw, but I wonder if there will be a substantial price increase. A chambered metroline UV70 could be on my horizon....

It's a metroline - the only difference between mine and the masterbuilt is that the masterbuilt has a gloss finish, a wooden control plate, and pearloid inlays. Everything else is pretty much the same. Oh, and it's about 3 grand more.

Still uses all the same woods - Okoume for the body, an AAAA walnut top, roasted alpine maple neck, and both have black hardware (which is great because you couldn't get that in the metros before).

From what I understand, both models are solid and not chambered - if anyone knows different, please let me know.

From my experience with the German Metroline models so far, I'd rather have one of them than any other type of Sadowsky.

The necks are just out of this world good and I love the improvements like the adjustable nut, quick release control plate, and invisible frets.

Mother-Of-Pearl block inlays and brushed metal housing on pickups and flamed maple neck.

So my German Metroline 2021 LTD arrived today! I've only had a few minutes with it but wow, killer bass. Beautiful woods and excellent playability. The adjust-a-nut is cool. Look at the flaming on the neck! Almost has a Warwick type vibe due to the finish.
