I would no doubt spend money I don't have on this one if I didn't already own an alder/rosewood NYC P5 -- which is also strung with Sadowsky blue-label flats (just guessing about Tully's bass).

Think of all the pre-CBS basses that have been played and played and played, and the fabulous mojo imparted on them, and why you wouldn't want your NYC to look the same (think Sting 54P). Take care of it without making it a museum piece and let the wear-mojo tell the story of its travels.
It's trickier to mojo up a Sadowsky because the body is finished in poly, not nitro... but as I noted earlier I totally agree!
I have a 06 Metro RV5 that has been the #1 player ,I take care of my gear but it has been on the road doing festivals , clubs , indoor and outdoor. It has legit road wear , dings , bumps and bruises , bring it in to Roger in January to get a looking at and refresh, electronic , frets , replace knobs maybe change the string retainer , she is 15 years old. I picked up a VM5 Satin last year from Roger before the model was discontinued out of NYC , it will probably not get the same road wear as the Metro but it will not be a closet queen either. My son will get my NYC when my playing days are over as he was the guy that played the hell out of my 06 Metro RV5 but to be honest I actually got the RV5 for him back in 06.

Nitro was an option for a while, a few years back, Vintiquity series (I think?)
I have a NYC satin deluxe jazz bass 5 string. I bought a german metroline pj 5 string and don't regret it, its a great bass and is getting more playing than the NYC just now. I think the quality is up there with NYC

NYC UV60 in Vintage Shoreline Gold, Brazilian fingerboard, chambered alder, D-tuner, 1.45" nut, and the new stacked hum canceling pickups with the coil tap switch. It's lightweight (8.15 lbs), balanced and sounds amazing. Here's a pic Roger sent me, but I'm sure to be taking more soon. I'll try to post an audio sample for those interested in what the pickups sound like.

Doesn't surprise me. Roger was often quoted as saying the key difference between Japan metros and NYC was simply chambered bodies and more options with NYC. Otherwise the same. I would assume the same applies to the German metros.
Nitro-finished body might have been an option for NYC basses even outside of the Vintiquity line, but poly body and nitro neck has been standard. I don't know what's changed post-Warwick.
Beautiful bass! Inca silver and shell pink are my absolute faves—and I own neither!
I am fortunate to have 6 Japan-made Sadowskys. Excessive, I know, yet habit-forming. I have never played an NYC or Warwick. Three are masterbuilt TYOs. Absolutely perfect in every way. Three are Metrolines. Can’t really discern any reduction in quality from the custom TYOs. All have perfect necks and frets, perfect body finishes, and Sadowsky electronics. Morado is just another flavor IMHO—which can be tuned instantly by a twirl of the EQ knobs. Weight on the Japan-made basses tends to a little higher, as they aren’t chambered. Some folks prefer the heft anyway.
If you should find a Metro or a TYO, my humble advice is: don’t hesitate.
Well, I made the jump today … ordered this German Metroline 5-21 in Oly White with a morado board from Thomann. I always get nervous ordering from overseas, but USA dealers have a HUGE lefty adversity issue that sucks, to be honest. There are a couple good ones (drumcityguitarland, for example) but most higher end lefties are in Europe and Japan. Anyway, here she is - and she’s only 8.9 lbs!
That said, we sometimes play gigs at crazy biker bars during Sturgis and 4-hour outdoor gigs where it can go from 90°F at 8pm and 50° by the time we tear down at 1am.
I’ll always bring my NYC and I will play the hell out of it but if I can avoid preventable permanent damage because of rowdy bikers, etc., I will.
Would've loved to have found a used Japanese Metroline, but I’ve never seen a lefty anywhere.

Oh, I’m all for natural wear and tear and I’m way more drawn to old fenders that look like they’ve been dragged down a road paved with broken glass than I am the mint condition specimens.

the warwick site for registering gets along ok for a few inputs but some of the drop- down answers aren't populated and so you can't get past to the next tab.

oh and the control/battery cover keeps coming loose and the battery drops out, are replacements available these days?

it is pretty nice
meant also to say it arrived set up really well, very nice fret work too.
only thing I did was change to flats-D'A Chromes I had-usually like TI jazz flats but may stick with these.
tempted now also to try Sadowsky flats.

Should be taken care of under warranty. The cover on my bass broke in a matter of hours and was replaced by warwick.
I had TI flats for quite some time on my 5er. They work realy well with the bass and give a realy pleasent finger style tone. I eventually switched back to nickel rounds, as I need some zing for slappy parts though.
