It's pretty easy to get a half guard made (Gravity Strings in St. Louis has a template). However, I'm with all of you... leave it alone!

True as I never get attached to anything. Funny thing though my guitars don't go anywhere I have my 2 martins that have been w/ me since the early 90's. I am not crazy about the red color but traded my fender for it. I am a huge fan of natural/maple and have a nice fiver already. I am trying to trade the red one for a UV70 in ash/maple

Not to get too far OT, but the one bass I've had the longest is my Martin ABG I bought brand new in the mid 80's. :)

Do all metros come with the HC pups, or is that an option? I only ask because people don't seem to specify very often in the classifieds for metros. I didn't see anything on the Sadowsky site about what kind of pups are in the metros. thanks!

Cool, Pok. What pickups are in your bass? Its easy to swap out pickups in a Sadowsky 4. Many brands will fit. Ive had Sadowsky HC's, singles, Nordy NJ4's, etc. I think the 5's are pretty unique routs, though. Id check with the shop if you are planning on swapping sets

I've had the Dunlop's pop off twice once due to pilot error once not.
The Schallers have popped off on a few occasions.
If find the Dunlop's very dependable though.

Mine has the HC pups, and i definitely like them so far (only had the bass for a couple weeks). I have just heard others say they liked the SC's better, and i'm doing some research and checking them out i guess. I've never swapped pups on a bass before. does soldering need to be done, or is there some sort of connector that just unplugs and you can plug the new set in?

Well, certainly nothing wrong with Roger's HC set. No noise, sound wonderful. Some like a true single coil. Ive moved to singles myself. All depends on what you are into.

Yes, you have to solder. Its easy. Even I can do it. LOL. Any local tech could do it in 10 mins. Really not a deal breaker if you decide to swap. Id contact Kevin or Roger if you decide to go for singles. The Sadowsky singles are awesome. I have them in my five and they will be in my Will Lee that I just ordered

So in 50 years time when the collector is examining your bass to see if he wants to pay $150,000 for it - he sees D-I-Y soldering work and non-standard pups!

The deal's off!

(yes, I know they're meant to be used and not put on ice - but I wish I'd bought a '62 precision new in '62 and put it in the cupboard for retirement).
