yep..lost my job a couple of weeks ago and sold my teal one, db659, qsc, and 2 other bergie cabs w/ some trades mixed in. My rig didn't cost me a lot of money since it was all used and my rig being discontinued (TFB420/NV215) and couldn't be happier w/ my setup and have money to pay my mortgage.

I'm really sorry about your job. I've been laid off since halloween(supposedly going back March 30) but have managed to add a bass(thank goodness for the wife). I hope things start looking better for you. At least you still have some killer gear and time to practice;) Try to stay positive, right?

I'm curious, has anyone here changed the Dunlop strap-locks which are standard on NYCs in favour of another system - or simply used a regular strap end instead of the actual lock (as is possible with the Dunlop system). I know some people have had problems with Dunlops popping off during a gig and wonder if any of you don't use Dunlop strap locks on your Sadowskys out of fear that your beloved with crash to the stage floor during a performance!

I am using a Sadowsky neoprene strap without straplocks on my NYC J5. It is a nice tight fit and I am confident it will hold well. I hope it stays that way.

one trip across country to start my new job plus an innocent trip to Atlanta Bass Gallery along the way and hours and hours of playing basses and chatting with the owner Jim resulted in me taking this bass with me for the remaining 1700 miles on the trip.

Please excuse the cheesy picture I sent from my hotel room that evening to show my wife what I acquired along the way to Arizona (I had to provide some visual proof!)

Seriously though I went to ABG trying to get an idea of what custom bass I wanted to order and I just played this Sadowsky for kicks and giggles. After I played it I was ruined. I kept playing basses but I would pick up the Sadowsky over and over again.

The same night I took this pic I recorded a short sound clip with the bass as well [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
I cannot put this bass down.

Dunlops all the way. They are standard on Ken Smith's, Fodera, MTD, Sadowsky, etc., etc. No offense to those who have had problems, but my guess is it was user error.

+1. It's possible that they didn't put the thing completely inside until they heard the 'clic'. (is there a joke somewhere?).

I have never had a problem with Dunlops, while I remember the Schallers getting loose very often back when I used them.

+1 No other reason other than I have been using Schallers for years and never had any issues with them.
I still have the Dunlops with all the case candy including the Sadowsky Staute of Liberty post card! A Classic!

Roger likes the quality of the Dunlops and that is why they are standard on all NYC models!
I like the Schallers and thats why they are standard on my NYC models!

Both systems are fine and it just comes down to user preference. IMO of course! :D

It's also because the Dunlops don't require you to use the locks on the strap, but the Schallers do. :)

I have a friend that use shallers and he doesn't attach the lock to the strap. What he does is that he puts the strap in the pin and then puts the lock over it. Thinking about it, could be done with the dunlops as well. Not so practical in terms of attaching/detaching the straps. I guess he only does that way becaue he doesn't know the "correct" way of doing, but hey, it works for him. :)
