Why do you like the Vol/Vol set-up better Tom? I am going to have the Shop add a HC J to my P-Bass (above) and I will have the choice between the two.

There are tons of threads and posts regarding vol/vol versus vol/blend. It's really just a matter of preference, but in a nutshell, for me personally, I prefer the vol/vol setup because: 1.) it allows me to dial in relative volume settings which I do not feel I can get on a blend; 2.) it normally means one less pot in the signal path, which can mean slightly more high-end content when you are in passive mode; and 3.) it is how the old Jazz basses (and my beloved Gibson Thunderbird) are wired, so I am just very used to this setup and very comfortable with it.

Seriously, it's a great looking bass. For you guys that have a P bass, how often do you play it in passive mode. I don't that often on mine because I just love the sound of the active preamp. But passive rocks as well.

For you guys that have a P bass, how often do you play it in passive mode. I don't that often on mine because I just love the sound of the active preamp. But passive rocks as well.

I don't either. I am doing 90's to present rock ala 3 Doors Down, Papa Roach, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Theory of a Deadman, etc. and I love that modern active P sound that I get for this music using the Sadowsky preamp and Sadowsky Blue nickel rounds.
