I was absolutely 100% fearful of shipping any instruments. That was before I saw how they came. 15+ basses later (all shipped, I live remote) I am more confident in the shipping process than if we personally dragged it home from any luthier. Serious. Take a breath, trust Roger. He ships those ladies to all four curves of the planet (curves- I’m not a flat-earther, because facts and truths always prevail).

Anyone know how long it takes for a quote or if maybe the shop is on summer hours?

Submitted a quote request over a week ago and haven’t heard anything. Wasn’t sure if it didn’t go through or if the process just takes a while, so thought I’d check here first.

All of the above. And, I believe you can save on sales tax by having it shipped to your home state, as I did with my NYC custom build. YMMV…

Mine took awhile when I did it (around the holidays), but Roger always got back to me. He’s busy, but he still wants your business ;)

It looks like the (Warwick) Custom Shop is offering matching quilted tops on the headstock. Is this an option on NYC basses as well? Don't think I've seen this outside of TYO basses in the past.

I think NYC is more of an on-demand type of thing in my opinion and from my experience.
More of an "I already know what I want and know who you folks are.." thing.

If you are going to NYC direct, I would suggest that you are already well-versed in the space and their offerings.
(The Warwick site is more for the general public. Like tee ball, easy to play for all and shows all options...NYC is "the show", they may expect you to already know the basics).
My order was quite simple, asked for 24 fret Will Lee in PJ layout, with matching headstock. Boom. Done.

I think if I had visited the more robust ordering site I would have ended up over-building my new lady.

A couple of under the hood items including a Hipshot, PJ setup, matching headstock, etc. Will Lee template was the starting point, stretched to a 24…

Being perfectly honest the build request was for a WL and with the finish in the bottom pic but I ordered just before COVID and between the time (18mos) and personnel changes in RS’s shop some of my tweaks got lost in the shuffle.
That, and I had a build on the bench at Dingwall plus one at MTD so I will take partial responsibility for the disconnect.
Not complaining at all here, I am completely satisfied. Actually, more happy with the result than the request. But what I learned during the process was to be quite specific on exactly what you want.

I have two Sadowsky basses. Both play to the standard that accompanies the name. ✌

The bass I have is the top pic, the pic sent in with the original order is bottom.
I think I made out well! She’s a sexy minx…as soft, yet as biting when needed. Foxy, earthy, a sleeper on stage (looks demure but when I’m wearing her it’s go-time!).

Basically, it is a 4-24 Vintage PJ with the 1.45" nut width and the D-tuner. I do not see the switch for the mid-boost.

Honestly. less is more here.
I have several other basses with the onboard NASA checklist..my faves are this one, an MTD USA Super4, a Spector and a Fender TF Fretless. All plug and play with minimal pre-flight toggles.

If needed. the mid boost is courtesy of certain digital appendages.

I'm plenty happy with just the two bands of the Sadowsky preamp on my NYC 5. I've owned several WL basses with the mid and never really used them as I found no need.
