Absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been waiting for a 4 string version, but my wife and bank account are happy so far.
Had to go back and look…order was placed Sept ‘21. Aside from my ‘eagerly waiting’ build time, process was extremely quick/smooth! Timothy kept me well-updated, with progress pics along the way. Quick shipping (FedEx 2-day air) from HK, too…

I need some help and or advice - My German Metroline Will Lee 5, what a beautiful bass BUT I can't connect with it....it just does not sound good to my ears, sounds dull, whoomy, boomy, not punchy or growly, more of a round sound. If I engage the mid control it gets even worst (I have had 3 Sadowskys in the last 15 years so I know what they are capable of) Lets not even mention the the highs freq, sounds dull, like when you have really old strings on your bass, a bit too vintage for my taste....
I have played it through different systems (direct on my recording studio, amped with both Aguilar and Ampeg systems and in-ears through a $250k DIGICO console) and it makes no difference, it all sounds the same.....Maybe that is the sound of a Will Lee? or perhaps I need to change the pickups to get the sound I want?
Any Advice, experience with this?

Hmm that’s not how I would describe any Sadowsky I’ve ever played. Especially a Will Lee model which should have single coils which are generally considered brighter and having more “bite”. Maybe a setup issue or strings?
What kind of strings are you using and how old?
My NYC Will Lee 5 is not any of those things described. I run the EQ flat, never use the mid boost, and typically with the VTC backed off a bit, and it can cut with a nice punchy, growly J-bass tone without any issue.

I've owned many Sadowsky basses. Some sounded great, some didn't sound good(to me) at all. This is true of every manufacturer. Seems like you may have gotten one of the less than good ones. It happens.

First thing I do is swap out the strings to give me reference.
However, the Sadowsky pre amp isn't that complicated so not a lot to trip you up.
Normally, I work a new bass in and it can take a lot of time, ...but I need to really appreciate any positives, to do that. If its a dud, send it back before the return period expires.

I work petty closely with Roger and the German team in the recent years on the Metroline and Customshop instruments. I use them in the real world as well, just wanna make them right and hopefully everyone feel happy with the basses like I do.

"Unfortunately", Germany customshop already sold out the production in the two coming years, a new build will probably need a 2years leadtime.
