Neither. At least not Sadowsky pickups. The G.O.A.T. himself stated in this very thread that all his jazz pickups are supposed to be as near in sound to single coils as possible and that you'd barely hear a difference in a blind test. If you're not happy with your Sadowsky single coils you'd most likely not be happy with Sadowsky split- or stacked-coils.

It's been a while since I've had a Sadowsky 5 with the split J pickups, but to mirror what WorktheWood said, the previous splits I've had were this exact tone - more shimmer to the highs with somewhat scooped mids, and not nearly as aggressive as the singles.

I will have to disagree with you not just in theory but in on my own experience this bass I changed all the electronics to Sadowsky and it sounded incredible! changed it from to a very dull and vintage sound to super modern punchy growly amazing modern jazz bass. I did make it and 18 V system I know Roger says it makes no difference but I like the higher output personally

Thye both sound crispy to my ears while stacked slightly got more usable mid comapred to split. This is how I descibe them.

If I hear what I consider Will Lee's classic FSO sound, I get it with my CS and Glock which is my current favourite pre and always figures in my top 2.

I'd probably buy a WL5 on the basis of that.
To me, it has defined a classic slapped Jazz sound.

Possibly a longshot question on the just-a-nut iii...
I want to use TI jazz rounds, which are just (really only just) a bit skinnier than the recommended sizes for the nut for the B, E and A.
I've had to get the nut on my Fender 4 string filled in to accommodate the skinny TIs, otherwise the nut didn't keep them in place.
Anyone used these strings on a Metroline 5 with the just-a-nut?
Are there any other solutions other than getting the nut filled and refiled?
I seem to remember on the old Warwicks, the just-a-nuts were on individual kind of grub screws per string, and you could replace them for different gauges (questioning now whether I just made that up!).

The original brass JANs had slots in adjustable screws, one per string. The newer JANs have a more traditional looking slotted nut, with 1 adjustment screw at each end.

Maybe describe your scenario to customer service. Either the original nut works, or you might require a blank to slot according to your desired spacing and string gauges.
