Agreed. Bass/treble sit just above 0 for me. So much can be done with VTC and the blend knob especially on a PJ

I hear ya. My Sadowskys have dual pickups... yeah, the blends get a workout!

Not to mention the preamp is so incredibly powerful. A small bump above flat on the Sadowsky preamp is like taking the other guys' preamps to 6 or 7.

Bought from Amazon:

Luminlay SB & SG series / 60mm... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08B37HSFV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Used a 3mm bit and hand drill to drill out the old markers, placed a dab of super glue on the end of the Luminlay marker and placed it in the newly drilled hole. Cut off the excess with some snips and repeated down the fretboard.

Cut even more excess off the Luminlay marker with a sharp blade, then sanded it down smooth using variable grits of sandpaper. My WL-5 already has the neck sanded down, but I also did Luminlays (Luminlay SBM & SGM series/with... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08B3CB89X?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) on my new Metro MJ5 that is not sanded down and didn’t have any issues getting into the finish on it.

Pretty easy install for both basses.

If anyone is wondering what is going on with our website: we put together a new site and launched it over the holiday weekend. However, we are realizing that it needs some fine tuning before it's totally ready. In the meantime, we brought back our old site. We should have the kinks worked out on the new site in the next week or so and will relaunch it then. In the meantime, the old site is back and works as it always has (store, stock page, order form, etc.).

For those of you that own both NYCs & Sadowsky Tokyo basses, which preamp do you favor?

I recently picked up an early Sadowsky Tokyo bass and so far, I’m not loving the preamp. I’m going to see if maybe a change of strings does the trick and if not I may start to look for an NYC preamp in the classifieds.

I have a ‘92 Modern with a newer NYC preamp & the old EMG pickups and I like that preamp a lot.

I’d love to hear what the collective has to say about these preamps.

I’ve had several Japanese Metros, several NYCs, and now also have a German Metro - the preamps all sound the exact same to me.

Preamps are the same. Could it be the pickups you don’t like?

Anyone in SE Florida interested in an even swap, your NYC Portabag for my NYC Sadowsky Hardcase? I'd like to keep it local since shipping could get expensive.
My case has been in a smoke and pet-free A/C'd home and in excellent condition, I'd appreciate the same.
The 24 Fret isn't included (of course), I would think it would hold a "jazz" shaped Sadowsky also.

Sounds like you don’t have an original Sadowsky preamp if it is boost/cut.
