Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I couldn’t find it in a search...
Has anyone put a Sadowsky pre amp into a single pickup P bass, no extra routing and with two stack knobs - Vol/Passive tone/push pull active on off and Treble/Bass? I know I could get the pedal, put it would be nice to have it on board.

I know Roger has sold single pickup basses with preamps, so it might just be a matter of a wiring diagram to make adjustments to. I'd suggest reaching out to him.
I'd be interested to see if there's a Sadowsky pre for P bass, and how that works out.

I wonder if the Sadowsky pre was tailored to a Jazz bass? Would it be any different if it were P specific? In any case, it definitely works for both.
The reason I am interested is that I tried a Sadowsky PJ recently, and I liked the sound, so I’m guessing it is not tailored specifically to J pickups. I’m restoring a ‘79ish P bass, and was thinking of putting in a John East pre, but I think the Sadowski would sound better in this bass.
That’s what I was thinking, and a stack treble/bass. I don’t want to do any routing, or drill a hole for the socket though.
Thinking of diving into the Sadowsky world.
Came across this UV70 and I think I’m in love. Going for $2400 (or the equivalent in China). Shot Roger a quick email just to make sure it was legit and he said it was.

I just picked up a German MetroLine 21-5 MM on a bit of a whim, and it's amazing. Very versatile; does "huge growl MM" to "mellow-J" and quite a bit in-between. Light weight, good balance, and the clear satin finish never gets sticky-feeling. (I also have a NYC Satin M24 for comparison.)

Custom ordered this non-roasted mahogany body/ebony/roasted maple neck 5-24, a few years ago. The bass was visually stunning, with killer neck flaming.…
[EDIT/add: neck pic] After gigging it several times, I became very frustrated with the active (and passive) tones it provided. Other than several string experiments, I didn’t want to go down a rabbit hole changing out other things—so, let it go. If a bass isn’t speaking to you…
This time around (fall ‘20) Ellis recommended non-roasted ash body/ebony/roasted maple neck…
[EDiT/add: neck pic] The bass sounds c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y different, and an absolute keeper for me. Inherently more bite/deeper bottom-end. Not bashing mahogany, as I do love my WL5 (chambered mahogany body/BR fb) tone combo!
Settled on LaBella LT Flats for this fretless…

Agreed, they’re very versatile and I’ve been very pleased with the Metro MJ5 that I picked up awhile back. I’ve been running it primarily with both pickups on - J in single coil and MM in series. The ergonomics of the narrower string spacing, neck dimensions, and slimmer nut width really make it a winner for me. And mine only weighs in at 7.9 lbs! They really hit a home run with those basses in my book.
Admittedly, I have been fighting the urge to pull the trigger on one of the special edition MJ basses, strictly from an aesthetics standpoint. Really dig the looks of most of those (and the pickguard on the regular ones like mine is not my favorite, but still growing on me).
@kevk Nice looking basses. The difference between ash and mahogany is significant. Additionally, while I like the concept of roasted maple, I don't like the sound. It seems to offer a thinner sound when compared to non-roasted.
