Just curious, does anyone know what year Roger's basses went from EMG's (I believe those were the first pickups used) to Duncan then to Carey's pickups?

We'll probably have to wait for Roger on this one. Plus, I thought the EMGs were only used on the "Moderns" or "24-Fret 5" (soapbar) models? As far as P and J style pickups, in addition to SD and Nord, I think he might have also used DiMarzio built ones for a while(?), but again, I think we have to have him chime in on this part.

That said, I also believe he has hesitated to answer this question in the past because he wanted to try and create space between his pickup spec and who made them for him. I would imagine he could be concerned that people would assume too much about tone based on experience with other pickups made by that vendor, which would not necessarily apply.

My .02 anyway.

That said, if you have some experience with pre-Warwick HC's and are asking about pre/post-Warwick HC's specifically, while I have limited experience playing the newer Warwick built instruments, I did feel like the Sadowsky pedigree was carried forward nicely, so I'd say you should be ok.

Team, let me clarify my question. I am not asking the difference between the SC and the HC. I am only asking if the HC pickups sound different before and after Warwick. Are the same sound and build.

Many years ago I had called the shop to get a bit more info on my NYC J/J5. This had to be in the very early 2000's. The gentleman said that my bass was the very first to get the newest pickups. It was so long ago I don't really recall what he said was the transition. But I vaguely remember him saying that the pup's in my bass were Duncan's. That was my first Sadowsky and I still have that bass. (Note: as always I could be wrong:D)

interesting. the first Sadowsky i ever bought (though used) goes back to when they first started adding the graphite rods to the necks. mine has those same pickups, and I also still have it today, and have NO plans to ever sell it. it's very plain jane. it could easily be taken for a metro. no special/figured woods, all natural finish. just an ash body and a maple neck. i believe it dates back to mid 2004. i also had the nitro sanded off the neck and replaced with an oil finish. it sounds and feels just completely amazing.

edit: holy crap, my older Sadowsky is getting close to 20 years old! damn!

That caught my eye too. Gorgeous spalted top. Too many strings. I’ll stick with my MetroLine Will Lee RW4.

That one and the blue one have been hanging around since the last update, both driving me a bit crazy. Had thought about calling the shop and asking about the possibility of a black hardware swap, but I've resisted thus far.

Hi Foal. Hope all is well. Yep, I did a gig with the Ashdown and was completely underwhelmed. Changed the driver to an Eminence DeltaLite and it is now a great combo. The Ashdown driver was very light, only 150w (for a 300w amp!) and 4 ohms. The Eminence is 300w at 8ohms and blows the Ashdown driver into the weeds, even with the impedance difference. Also I can now run an extension cab if I ever need it. Did a gig with the new set up and it rocked!
