Club Sadowsky!!!

All these Modern 24's aren't selling because

You Shouldn't Be Selling Them!

:eyebrow: :scowl: :eyebrow:

After going thru GAS so bad my side hurt for a couple of years, I finally got a R5-24. :atoz: Instant relief. :hyper: So much so that I don't even go on the bass classifieds anymore.

Granted, it's not a tone for everyone (and I'm not a big fan of the Jazz tone) but it is a quality sound I couldn't find anywhere else.

Wow..that's a nice one for a great price.

I'll give my 2 cents on why I think there are a lot of them for sale right now. The Moderns are AWESOME basses..I've owned 2. I think that in today's economy, people are trying to free up cash. Since the Modern is a somewhat unique sound that does not always fit in every playing situation. It will usually be one of the first to go. That is somewhat my reasoning..I still have 2 Sadowsky basses but not a Modern.

I think there's some truth to that. I think of the Moderns as the Sadowsky version of a Smith/MTD. They are a great bass for the Sadowsky guy that wants to play urban gospel or Metal. Very articulate, with some zing, big, fuller range sounding but almost to precise for sloppy players like me. :D

I love them, but I do think the high end has taken a bit of a bath on the used market in the last couple of months. A year ago, Mikebasses RV wouldn't have lasted two weeks on the TB classifieds.

Yeah, there are a lot of good high end basses out there for sale at the moment. I was lucky and managed to sell my Sadowsky Standard 4 for a fair price quite quickly, but I have seen others sitting around for a while. I don't think its limited to Sadowsky's though. There are some great deals out there on Foderas and other high end marques. Its just the state of the economy at the moment.

In sadder news, I am down to only one Sadowsky. I regret selling the Standard 4 already, it was such an awesome bass. If things turn around again I may try and get another Sadowsky in a similar configuration, but right now my funds are committed to another purchase. :ninja:

Like you, there will be a day. I will probably get another Modern as well. Probably the next time I get bored with what I have. :D

It'll be tort all the way!

Here is my brand new Sadowsky Modern 5. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am to own this. The B string on this thing sounds better than both my Spector NS5 and Modulus Q5. And it's 34" scale. Thanks to all who gave me advice on one of my previous posts.

Can I join the club now.:)

Check it out.

Hey David, I knew you were going down to Brooklyn but I didn't realize you were considering a Modern 5.

I picked up a R5-24 a few weeks ago. It is definitely a keeper. It sounds great thru a certain Epifani. :ninja:

Beautiful bass you have there (even though it's not pink. :smug:) I hope you enjoy it.

That particular Modern is the best looking one I've seen.. best spalt, and I really like the look of these with maple boards versus darker boards, given the natural headstock. Add the birdseye to it and the clean look of no face dots, and your bass is just stunning.

Enjoy!!!! Absolutely beautiful!

Sadly I am shipping off my Sadowsky tomorrow...

It really is an amazing bass, and I definitely hope to get one again some day. I'm goign to hang on to my number in hopes that i own one again sooner rather than later :)
