The salesman who put the bass on hold parted ways from the store and the customer never made good on the deal, so it sat in the basement for almost a year until it turned up about three months ago and was put back on the sales floor.
Getting back to my conversation with the manager, he told me that if the bass didn't sell at $2750 he'd discuss a lower price. I ended up buying a Metro I like very much, so hopefully someone here can get it for a good price.

That's a pretty bass, but a bit pricy IMO.
Maybe $2500-ish

Roger, If I didn't need a fiver for what I do, I would have considered a trade. It was that good, and by far the best "classic" sounding bass I've ever played. While I think my MS5 is more versatile ( I need modern some times) I don't think I've ever played any bass including a couple of 60's Fenders that were in the 20K class that spoke like that bass spoke. It's hard to describe the sound, but it was fat without any of the boominess that can be tough to EQ out of a room. And it retained the evenness that your basses are known for.
