+1, I can see that being the case. Mainly tho, I don't see the emphasis in mahogany in the high mids at all... not sure who said that, but I'd have to "-1" them on that. IMHO, Mahogany is all about pushing the lows and low mids.

It does need a setup and a new set of Stainless Steel Blue Labels otherwise the tone is NUTZ.

Yep, checking, tho the bass doesn't look old enough for it to be from age. Maybe it took a temperature hit at some point. Anyway, I've always been told this is pretty strictly cosmetic, so it's highly debatable whether it's worth fixing or not.

...as we all should. Don't wanna' stray OT with this, but folks are always amazed I take my stuff to gigs in your average bars. I tell them the same thing you did. The bass is mine, and mine to play and enjoy. I didn't buy it just to be some kind of darn "caretaker" for the next owner! Hey, do what you gotta' do to protect them as needed, but I refuse to own an instrument I'm afraid to play. It's a big reason I completely gave up on the vintage J GAS I VERY much had up until a few years ago.

I'm not an instrument speculator... I'm a musician... or at least someone trying hard to be one... :)
