Thanks... and I'm sorry:D

It's just a great spec... NYC vintage, non-routed ash body with maple board, Sadowsky single coil pickups, and Roger's wonderful Blue Label Stainless Steel strings... bright but not sizzly, tight but not stiff, grindy but not harsh, punchy but not ganky (hey, I'm a poet or something:p).

And the cool thing is, there is nothing particularly 'special' about mine at all (except that it's.... ORANGE!!! and maybe is on the slightly heavier/dense end of the NYC weight continuum)

They all sound great (as you know Vic, since you have almost an identical bass!), and for others, if you order one up with a spec based on something you hear that you dig (Modern, PJ, Vintrage ash/maple, alder/RW, single coils, stock HC's, whatever), you are 95% sure to be able to get that same sort of vibe. These things are just SO consistent across individual basses within a given spec. Yes, they all have their little quirks and personalities, but Roger and team just do a great job of keeping the tolerances very tight within each of the different models. Pretty cool company IMO!:bassist:

Thats kind of interesting.. If you check out the Clapton/Winwood live DVD.. Willie Weeks is playing a P-Bass but with a maple board through an Aguilar rig... It sounds fantastic and I usually hate the P-Bass maple board tone...

IMO, it is impossible for Willie Weeks to ever sound less than perfect:D But that would be a topic for another thread!

Thanks Ken...I couldn't be happier. My rig is Light, portable, Fat Warm, Round and VERSATILE as HE$$! I always loved black/maple and natural/maple basses but this P has something special about it. I can go from reggae to hip-hop to punk to funk in a couple of turns of a couple of knobs:bassist:

While I understand our friends in Japan really love Marcus I do not understand why anyone would want the front of their bass to be butchered for that look. I can see the ash/maple with blocks and binding natural body but why not just use the more modern rear route?
