Yeah, you find a Metro around 9 pounds, you're in good. That's like (for me) the perfect weight, and as much as I really dig the chambered models, I also very much like the solid bodies too. My older J5 NYC is also solid and it's awesome.

I have an NYC JJ5 solid body natural ash/maple with SC's (#4098), an NYC JJ5 chambered body burst/quilt ash/maple with HC's (#5249), and one Metro PJ5, burst ash/maple with an HC J.
These (except the Metro has a tort guard on it now):

Yeah, in a Sadowsky, ash/maple basses are the stuff for me.
How do you pic a bass to take to a gig with that wonderful arsenal you have my head would be spinning???

As I am always wearing black on stage, that is the only way I get noticed at all.

It's usually not as hard as you might think. I'm usually in a fairly definitive mood for one thing vs another, plus, I usually bring at least two basses to each gig.

I want to get a few pick guards made for my NYC PJ do you get them from Sadowsky?
Yes, but they're VERY particular about the pickguard fit on NYC's and typically require you send yours in so they can duplicate the original precisely.
played my ash/maple UV70 5 string yesterday for the first time in a band setting, and my goodness it sounded so good. best bass tone i have ever gotten from any instrument, ever.
I'm really glad your enjoying it! It was hard letting that one go but I prefer a 4 stringer
+1 That pairing makes so much sense... a nice, aggressive ash/maple JJ, and a nice, fat alder/RW PJ. That would cover all the bases (pardon the pun!). Nice!
Yep, I sent the original guard back and they cut 2 additional ones for my bass.
As for the red one, I included the raw material as they didn't have any at the shop.
Sorry I haven't been able to take some decent pictures of the red guard. I will take them post as soon as the lighting is favorable.
