BTW, give me the coordinates for your house, because if you ever ever get rid of this bass, I'm gonna' need them. A committal would just be going too easy on you.

Luke, this kinda took my breath away. THAT, my friend, is a killer looking bass!
I had a chance to buy a PJ like this about 6-7 years ago at a great price and I passed on it for some stupid reason.
How is the slap tone on these PJ's? I am debating one of these or the M5-24 for my next one. I am not sure how different the tone would be compared to my UV70.
Very different from a both a JJ or M5-24.
It's going to be fatter and richer in the mids due to the bridge pickup being closer (but not quite exactly) to the 60's position as well as the presence of the P instead of a neck J pickup.
However, even with the extra mids going on, it's still gonna' be a lot sweeter than an M5-24, which is uber-accentuated in the mids, super aggressive, and pretty hard to impossible to get a big round sound out of like you can the JJ/PJ basses, which is why I like the slap tone on the PJ/JJ basses a lot more.
I personally prefer the slap tone of the JJ basses a bit more, but I must say, if slap is your thing and you already have the JJ thing covered (as you WELL do), between the M5-24 and the PJ, it's PJ ALL the way.
Vic, thanks. I am kind of caught up on what it is that I actually want. Do I want a bass that is somewhat similar to my JJ (PJ) or do I want to go with something different (M5-24)? My main will be the JJ, but if I break a string or heaven forbid, something just dies on it; do I want to be able to switch to a simliar sounding bass, or do I want something with a different flavor? I like versatility. I like being able to NOT stick to one type of tone. One of my favorite basses out is the Lakland 55-02/94's.
I think the best option for me is to find someone that has them and play around with them a bit. I love the look of the PJ, but I am a mids lover!!! To me, there are few things sweeter than having that nice sweet midrange just kicking people in the nads and cutting through.
At least I have plenty of time to figure this one out.... as I won't be getting a new bass any time soon.

The PJ setup has plenty of mids/low mids so I'm going to change your sentence and make things easier for you;

Definitely evaluate both before purchasing, and remember, you can get these on approval if you're buying new. Order both, and send the one back you don't like as much.
The main thing you'll need to keep in mind is that the M5-24 could never ever be used as a "stand in" for a JJ or PJ. It will change your sound a LOT. So if the focus is to get a noticeably different flavor, but still generally staying in the same general tonal genre, I'd think the PJ would fit best. On the other hand, if you really want a complete and total departure from what you have right now, the M5-24 will do the most to expand your tone base. That said, it is different enough you'll definitely want to gig with one before you finalize a purchase choice if you can... or at least get a good enough deal you can flip relatively easily without losing more than you'd be ok with for the "test".
I'm kind of going through a similar thing. I own three NYC JJ. One Ash/Madagascar, one Ash/Braz and one Ash/Maple. So I Think I have the JJ thing covert. Now I know I want a P with Ash/Maple because I want to be able to covert the real P tone so should I order a P/J to make it a more versatile instrument?
I think I'm gonna follow Vic's suggestion and order a P/J to test at a gig. If I like it, Its mine. If not, I'll return it.
Something else I notice on the Bacchus P/J I use to own is, whenever I would be completely soloing the P, I would have this deep P sound and as soon as I would ad a little J in the blend, It felt like I was loosing the deep bottom of the P sound. Its almost like the volume would drop.
I'm hopping its not gonna be an issue with a P/J Sadowsky.
The volume on my PJ is even across the blend pot, from soloed P all the way to soloed J.
I've played a BUNCH of PJ's, they all loose that distinctive P solo'd vibe pretty fast when you start to add the other PU. Same thing with the bridge PU. That Jaco vibe changes pretty fast.
The major chunk of the volume drop thing can be fixed with careful height adjustment of the PU's.
I doubt you'll ever hear a Sad player say he was short of deep. There's not much out there that can get as fat and stay clear.
There is a lot of tone swing between pure P and pure J on the Sadowsky. And as said above, tweaking the pu height gives you more flexibility as well. I really like the slap tone of the PJ, and usually am mixed between the two, 60/40 one direction or the other.
A buddy of mine who is a phenomenal slap player checked out my PJ and gave it the thumbs up, saying that he actually prefers slapping PJ to JJ tonewise.
