I love how the bare wood on the back of my double bass feels and I'm wondering if I want to speed up that feeling on my Sadowsky by lightly sanding the back of the necks, so those of you that have gone that way, post your impressions and some photos of well broken in necks.
How should I do it? (Rob? Roger?)

If your neck is finished in Nitro you don't want to screw with it but if it's finished in Poly you can use 0000 steelwool and just rub it down. Once you've gotten to bare wood it's best to treat it with Butchers wax. I've done this with a few basses over the years and use the steel wool to clean the neck and get any stickyness out, you won't break through the finish for years.
Steel wool is great for stickiness but other then that just play the heck out of your bass.
there's nothing like time.

New Sadowsky basses stock update!!!

I was talking about DrSmaggs's bass. The position of the neck J pickups and the 24 frets board makes it very hard (at least for me) to slap. There is no room.
Nice sound and playing by the way.
Where do you like your pickups for slapping?
Gotcha! And the playing, for Ed Friedland, I'll say your welcome.I was talking about DrSmaggs's bass. The position of the neck J pickups and the 24 frets board makes it very hard (at least for me) to slap. There is no room.

#5459 caught my eye as well. What else could you want? 24 fret, HC, 5 string and beautiful.
