I remember that when I slapped on my old MV5, the tone was almost overpowering and IME/IMO required a lighter touch than I'm used to. I'd have a full and balanced fingerstyle tone but almost had to re-EQ it when slapping. It literally could rip a drummer's face clean off. I find the PJ5 to be a more balanced, mid-focused sound that I GREATLY prefer, although I hardly EVER slap. I also LOVE the sound of that P pickup when slapped.

In cases where I felt that was a risk, I found simply dropping the VTC to be VERY effective in taming the shrew. That said, the PJ slap tone is very nice as well.

I don't slap much - Brick House, Peg - but my RV4 sounds ridiculous when slapped. I just hit the Mid Scoop on my Shuttle Max 12 and I'm good to go.

I'd like to have an MV5 JUST for slapping. In fact, I think I could justify one of each Sadowsky Model. Maybe two of each, one with rounds one with flats.

How is the slap tone on these PJ's? I am debating one of these or the M5-24 for my next one. I am not sure how different the tone would be compared to my UV70.

Anybody on TB have one of these yet? Im wanting an ash/maple jj with single coils to go with my R5-24 and M5-24's. it would be my first NY Sad. the new add on their web page looks pretty cool i guess the jj's are in the 60's position. cant find any other pics on the recently sold page though.

So, is Will's bass below standard candy apple red? At first I thought maybe the red had a wine/magenta tint, but that's probably just the lighting conditions (and red can be hard to photograph accurately). By the same token, the guard looks like it might be mint, but maybe it's plain white. Can anyone confirm?

Will's main bass is Candy Apple Red, with a Parchment Guard. Yes, it does look like Mint in the live picture, but it is Parchment.

Its a really nice bass but remember, its pretty much impossible to slap on this bass
