Club Sadowsky!!!

It is simply excellent, however, I have one minor concern--on the top side of the neck where the neck joins the body, I can put a .005 feeler gauge between the neck and body, ie, the neck joint isn't perfectly tight. Is this something to be concerned with?

From a tone quality standpoint, it certainly doesn't appear to be--even tone on all frets and no dead spots. And the action is incredibly low--I asked them for low-ish action, but this is the lowest I have ever experienced on a bass. I have decided I will get used to playing lighter, which should help my hand/wrist problems.

+1 to the F1/Berg combo. I only got to try the F1/Epi a couple of times and was equally impressed. Both great tones and I'm sure the Sadowskys would dominate through either. I was kinda partial to the Epi, though I've never owned one. I kinda miss my light weight SS rigs. :crying:

Hey, I can't remember if you posted on this already, and sorry if you did, but have you done much with your Sadowsky basses and the RH450 with either/both these cabs?

Sounds great also... less bite, more fat..warm, bigger and more 'growly' than the 'grindy' tone of the F1 (or at least the ability of the F1 to translate the inherent grind of my particular Sadowsky! I like it (and most other heads) much better with the Berg than the Epi at this point.

However, with the Sadowsky, it's the F1/F500 all the way for me. The more vintage vibe of my A-C's just SMOKES with the RH450 though.... kind of 'old school meets old school' there:bassist:

Don't be afraid man; it's all good.

With the F1 in the side pocket (that's not a billiards call people) I can carry my axe in one hand, and my (earlier, lighter) UL410 in the other hand-as long as it ain't too dang far-and it's an easy one trip slaughterhouse.

Yeah, the F1 is teensy. It's hard for me to believe bass amps that small really are worth having, coming from where I come from...but it's true; and the F1 seems like a head that was made just for the Sadowsky stuff, to me.

I only have my HUGE stage rig now. The sound is amazing....but I can't fit it into my car! I got rid of my WW a year or so ago as well as my EA iamp 800. I've been looking for a killer sounding little rig....but haven't made up my mind as to what to buy.

The largest part of the problem for me is I am used to playing tube amps. Most of the time I am playing one of my Sadowsky's....but every now and then I'll break out one of my Stingrays.

I have played through the Berg AE410. I liked it a lot.....and I think it will fit in my car. I know neither of my NV's will fit! So, the F1 and the AE410 may be the next items I get.

What are super clean F1`s going for used?

Any of you guys play through a MarkBass LM tube 800? If so, what are your thoughts on those compared to the F1?

I'm certainly into small rigs (hey...don't go there). While I have a "full size" head, I usually just take on EA VL-110 cabinet to most rehearsals and small room gigs. I have a second VL-110 cab if I want to push a little more air, and an old Epifani (pre-neo) 2-10 that gives ridiculous amounts of low end. I only use it for outdoor gigs.

The other problem though is my kit bag. Once you put various cables in there, a mike (just in case), music stand, guitar stand, and a Real Book and a binder, it ends up about the size of a big carry-on bag. Clearly I need a small elephant to carry this...

Had the LMT800 for a day... literally hated it (similar to my feelings of the SD800)... especially with a J Bass... boomy down low, clanky up top. Per the above, I find the F1 and AE410 to be perfect if you dig that 'Will Lee' sort of aggressive, grindy, bright, present, quick attack sort of tone. With the 410UL, the F500 (the more fully featured F1) sounds a bit better to me, due to a bit of a hole in the low mids of that cab that can really 'hollow out' the sound of a J Bass.

With the 410UL though, if you like it really fat and really smooth, the TecAmp Puma with the Sadowsky JJ is just something to behold..... IMO and IME!

Sorry for the OT here... getting a little too much 'ampy' for a bass thread.

I hear you there. Several years ago I did a pit gig for an off broadway show. Through a wierd series of people getting sick.... I ended up playing the woodwind book (clar, Sax, flute) and the bass book. Talk about a lot of stuff to carry in. It was a great series of shows....lots of fun. I won't soon forget carrying in all that stuff. I needed several elephants!:D

Well,

I have had two gigs with my Metro MV5, and so far is has a much warmer tone that I expected, but I suspect that is due to the less than new DR Highbeams, which are not my choice of strings on any bass.

On Wednesday, I played for youth group with two electric guitars that were fairly thin sounding, so the foh sound guy said he filled the room with the bass, and it was a very good fill. Friday I played for a 12-step group at church and was completely on the bridge pickup with the VTC full, Bass control flat and treble up about 1/3 of the way, and it worked, but I generally prefer to leave the blend centered.

I have ordered a set of Regular Sadowsky Blue Steel strings to hopefully brighten this up just a tad. If not, I will, and my anyway, order some SC's and throw them in.
