I would be shocked if there isn't a WL5 out this year.

The other thing I'm wondering is if the added colors for the Metros indicates more offerings from there. A WL Metro? Or how about Metro guitars?

4854 is a real looker also. I'm with you on the P/J, lots of settings and lots of good rich bottom (and we all like a little good rich bottom now, don't we?) That 24 -5 tone might suprise you. It does have its own charactaristics, but, I have found it to be very useful in a variety of situations, even with some of the old blues guys that I back up. I've run into some real live rooms that the Vintage 5 JJ just won't mellow out in. (It is ash/maple) and if I switch to the soapbars (ash/maple, also) I can usually warm it up enough to keep everybody happy. This doesn't happen too often, just something I've noticed. I think that alder/RW P/J is going to be good.

Interesting. Just what I need, another experiment ;)

I certainly know that I'm not an ash/maple/modernJ guy. The clips I've heard of the 24-5 seemed to be pretty aggressive/modern. Of course there are so many variables involved there it can be hard to sort out. I have yet to find a bad tone on the PJ...

I'm in again with the 'orange bomber'.... non routed ash, Sadowsky singles, Blue Label SS... wonderful bass.

With the VTC engaged, the ash/maple is extremely versatile. I just sold mine only because I couldn't afford to keep 2. There wasn't a situation that I would not feel comfortable playing it in. The profile on the neck of that bass is one of the best feeling fives I've ever played.

FYI, the Sadowsky Moderns have very little to do (if anything at all) with the tone of a J model, ash/maple or otherwise. Totally, completely different tone.

If you are talking about your orange one, it sure looks like 70's pickup position, but can't exactly tell due to the photo's being taken on a touch of an angle. I'm pretty sure it is though.

Interesting if it does have 70's position... similar then to the A-C RA, modeled loosely after the 'early 70's transition J's... alder body, poly, maple neck (from what I've been told... I'm surely not a vintage Fender expert). That's an interesting spec.

One of my Sadowskys is on its way back from NYC as we speak. I sent in my '59 Burst Standard in for a setup because the action has just never been quite what I wanted. Anyway, Rob L worked on it this week and it should arrive back to me tomorrow. Basically, he had to take the neck off and make some adjustments to the neck pocket. Now, he says is plays like butta! Unfortunately, I leave on a trip today and will not be back until Saturday night. :( I used the Sadowsky in my avatar on a gig yesterday and it rocked!

Just for grins...here is the one that is on its way back from NYC.
