Club Sadowsky!!!

Man, that wood floor looks familiar....:hiding:

I listened quite a few times to your orange bomber clips and I can say I love that tone. I didn't hear that same tone in the ash/maple 60s spacing metro, the UV70 is somewhat closer but not the same, less mid presence (I think).

It could easily be chalked up to the unpredictability of different woods or maybe even the HCs vs. singles.

Again the ash/maple metro with 60s spacing if I ventured a guess sounded more like the RA you had.

I think the primary difference you are hearing is the more mid presence of the single coils in mine. In A/Bing many UV's with quite a few NYC ash/maple/60's Sadowsky's, I found the tone very similar, and that slight bridge pickup change to not really move the UV that far away from the classic Sadowsky tone. I like the UV's a lot, and it is a good way to get into an ash/maple NYC tone for about $1000 less (and get blocks and binding to boot!).

Awesome bass dude!

Strong IMHO on this, but regarding the pickguard, I personally wouldn't really be feelin' a pickguard on a Standard, but at least as far as color goes, either black or tort would look killer on a natural finish, so good choices there!

Thanks Vic!

Just thinking out loud on the pickguard. Couple guys here have pickguard on Standards and they look cool. But I wasn't ready to have the guys at the shop install one.

If I get used to the distance no problem, then I won't have to cover up the nice grain. Tracking puts it here tomorree.

A little trick you can try is getting some pickguard screw and cut the heads off (). Then tack the pickguard down with some double-sided tape after you superglue the screw head to the pickguard. That way you don't have to drill the top of your bass.

I think that this Standard looks SMOKIN'

IMHO, the solution for that bass would be a transparent ramp at the neck heel, shaped to your liking, and held on by a few small pieces of adhesive tape (so no screw holes).

Thanks. I can't really take credit for the mods on that bass, but it definately looks killer. But unfortunately the previous owner of the bass didn't use double sided tape, but drilled everything. I've gotten a lot of nice compliments on that bass since I've gotten it.

Plus the tone is killer. I'm officially a Sadowsky convert. :D

If I didn't have a spare pickguard I'd probably do something like that. Nevertheless, I'm very pleased the way my bass looks now. I did it only because of string/body distance and I don't have a need to cover it up with glued screw heads... it's just for me and if needs be it'll come off.
