Club Sadowsky!!!

Those sweet words we love to see:
"On FedEx vehicle for delivery"

And then there are the ones that make me wanna :bawl: :
"Delivery exception"

Nobody was home. They usually don't deliver until later in the afternoon, so I had hope that either my wife or I would be home around 3pm. I hope they retry today or I'm bummed.

That why I have both, the UPS and the Fedex guy cell #. So I can call him and meet.

OUCH!! That stinks. You could try calling UPS and let them know that someone will be around later this afternoon and ask them to try a second attempt.

Was it a Sadowsky P? The P neck on my Sadowsky is very confortable unlike other Ps I've played.

No, it was a Fender. I understand that the necks on a Sadowsky are always well done and comfy but it was not an issue of comfort. It was more about hand memory. If like me you've been playing a J bass for 25 years, then its really hard to be comfy on a much wider neck. My left hand would get cramps and such.

Good idea, but drivers switch up around this area. CS can't or won't contact the driver as I requested to two different reps.

FedEx said they won't do a second attempt on a ground package. I guess they think people that use their service sit around all day or work from home. Not sure why they would attempt to deliver a Signature Required package at 10:42am. Espcially since they usually deliver (about once a month b/t me and my wife) between 3-6pm. Boggles the mind.

Edit: I can either pick up tomorrow at the hub in BFE or wait for two more tries. So, Saturday at the latest.
I've actually always been able to call and have them pull from the truck and hold for an evening pickup as well. Maybe try that and get it on your way home from work tonight?

I've found FedEx to be completely unpredictable when it comes to deliveries. Even at businesses. We use UPS and I always have my stuff delivered to my work, because I know that they always deliver at the same time and pick up at the same time. I also know that someone will always be there to sign for the package. That's a bummer they won't do a second attempt. Doh!!

One CS rep said they would pull it and I could pick up tonight. The other one said it could the window was 48hrs before they could get it off the truck for pickup at hub.

It was a lot easier logistically when I lived in a smaller city. I'm worried they will not get it off the truck until late tonight, while office hours at the location is 8am-4:30. So looks like I just try and relax, grab a 6 on the way home and wait till tomorrow. Its taken a long time to save I guess I wait another 24 to get my mitts on it.

Thx for listening guys and gals!!

If I recall correctly, Fedex is broken up really weird, like Fedex Home and Fedex Ground are like separate business units, maybe even with different hub locations as compared to Fedex Express or whatever they call their more premium services. Don't even get me started on their web site. Major nightmare there for me.

In short, I hate Fedex. Hate them. Never use them. I've had excellent experiences with UPS. No problems with deliveries and estimates, and the web site is powerful and intuitive.

No, I don't work for UPS. :)

Well, it shouldn't be harder in a bigger city. Seriously. Jeez, nice to get a confusing run-around and inconsistent answers, huh? *argh*

Yeah, I'd say the best thing is your current plan. Don't upset the apple cart. Just get it in the AM.

Yeah, don't go thinking! No room for that in this scenario. Maybe they'll prove me wrong and try again.

I've found good and bad with both shippers, mostly related to who you get on the other end of the phone. Since I got a couple different answers, I'm gonna let the apple cart roll along and just smile and say thank you.

Vic, you're right, FedEx is broken up into different divisions. There's Ground, Home Delivery, Express.

The ground guys and Home Delivery guys are subcontractors.

FedEx is pretty much whacked, you might be able to get a bit cheaper rate, but you really get what you pay for. I'm not a UPS employee either, but I will attest to UPS's punctuality. They, for the most part, get the stuff there on time. IMO.

Ha! If you ask them to do something like that in Detroit, they will verify your address, then come to your house and beat the hell out of you with the package, then put it back in the truck and redeliver it in two days:D
LOL!!!!!

Seriously... I just totally LOL'd... :D :D :D :D

LOL!!! Definitely looking to avoid that scenario!

If I'm home when either UPS or FedEx deliver, the only way I know is when I hear the "thump" on the front porch. Guess they can't really see the huge, antique bell with chain hanging down from it. :eyebrow:

HI

Fedex is crazy! Ive, a couple of times, have looked up items being delivered to me which have shown on their website to be delivered when they werent! One was an expensive wireless and one a bass. Both times I was so spooked that I put in a claim for them only to get the item delivered to me the next day! I think the drivers show items delivered, in many cases, when they arent. Very bad business.

Another time I was having a very expensive golf putter shipped to me. It said "delivered" even when it wasnt. Couldnt figure it out. The shipper and I jumped thru hoops only to later realize they delivered my putter to #21 on my street, not #12 which is my number. Hearing that many work as subcontractors explains alot of this to me

No doubt!! They've also just put it in front of the other door, with no knock or anything and it shows delivered. Then you go find your "sig req'd" item under the tiny door mat on the side of the house looking all flicked.

I'm hoping for the "not really delivered" scenario and it comes later when I'm home. Now that would be cool since my wife already has plans with a friend and I have tunes to practice tonight for this weekend.

What's this practice stuff you talk about? This is TALKBASS not practice bass. We don't allow that kind of behavior in here... by the way, I am playing tonight at Clarendon Grill if you need a break from practicing. :D

Right!! Couple new tunes, couple old tunes for Sunday.

'Preciate the heads up, but prolly won't make it out - practice, haircut, some work for a meeting tomorrow. Just signed up for the email list so I'll know where ya at. Tearing it up on that 'site song.
