Club Sadowsky!!!

I have had nothing but bad luck with Fed Ex, who has damaged a few items. They stabbed my Ampeg Micro Cabinet exterior box, went right thru the inner box, and hit/dinged up the cab. I had to send it back and get a replacement. That was the worst case so far.

UPS has a perfect record so far with my shipments.

That's what I wanted to see. Thank you.
Here's both back-back for comparison. The second one is actually mine, though the picture is pretty washed out. It's the same color as the top one in real life.

I should have another VJJ5 in a couple of weeks -- very exciting!

#5466 is actually vintage tint. Yours is natty all the way bro. I know this b/c I threw dibs out there on that there "beater" of yours a long while ago. I have both of these pics saved from a while back.

Its cool to see these side by side. I think the vintage tint looks better with the tort and your natural looks better with black. But either would probably still look great.

I went slight vintage on my C'Hill and my Metro MS5 is all natty like your NYC.

I'd take either one of these happily and "walk on down the hall."

I didn't realize it was vintage until I saw the side by side. I'm thinking of trying a tort with the natural only because it isn't a common look.

I love tort on natural. If I decide to get a pickguard on my natural MS5, tort is my first choice.

IMO, black is the default on natural with maple board with black blocks and binding.

DOH! You're right, HOWEVER, mine is definitely not as light as that picture. It may not be quite as golden as 5466, but it's definitely got more color than that pic. I've always noticed that.

For me, I've actually thought about it a lot and I would personally really dig either tort or the black that came on mine, and I think I'd feel the same on the vintage tint. I just think they're both top choices for both finishes. Sucks to have to decide! :D

Here's my trio picture again... much more representative...

Hey, just for fun, I got mine out and took a pic of some of the little bit of "mojo" it's already got on the neck. Man I love this bass. Folks in the audience and even other band members don't even look twice at this plain Jane J. How killer it is is just "our little secret" (and the sound guy's wet dream). :)

Here's a few pics of Saluki's bass. I was unable to capture the flamed fingerboard on a straight on shot... at least not without spending a buncha' time with lights, which I'm too lazy to do right now. But, I was able to angle the neck to show the flame. Pretty nice!

A sweet walk...
I'm waiting for my NYC buddy coming over for a visit to bring me one of those portabags. Who knows, a bass might be dropped in by mistake :ninja:

The Porta bag is great. One thing: it's heavy. I've already walked with it quite a bit with my bass inside all over NYC and Tokyo. My back is not lovin' it even though the rest of me is.....

I checked it in on my last flight from JFK to NRT. No issues whatsoever. I highly recommend this bag for those of you who travel by air with your basses.

Dark Cherry Burst

:bassist:

OK, I am a total sucker for cherryburst. That looks great. Seems a shame to put a pickguard on that nicely-grained body.

Two of my three Laklands I used to have were both cherryburst finish. I love my '59 burst "totally trad" Metro RV5PJ but vow that the next bass I get will be a cherryburst one. Maybe a NYC Jazz 5-string with quitled top and no pickguard. MMMMmmmmm...
