Club Sadowsky!!!

Congrats on that one. I must have looked at that 100 times trying to decide, but it was a bit out of my price range. Along came a MV5 that I had passed on once before, so I grabbed it. I love the look of that standard!!!!!

Thanks Jerry. It does resemble that great-looking Modern. I would have gone for an MV5 or Standard, but do like the standard just a tad more. Congrats on snagging the MV5. Looking forward to the pics.

Awesome bass - that's great you were able to make it happen. Cool wives are the best!

Enjoy!

Thanks! No doubt, Joel. My wife is way cool. I like keeping the funds separate that way to try and keep GAS in check. But glad we could loan me the money. :)

You can tell Sadowsky is a US made and played brand, this thread tends to die during the British daytime!

Anyone else here got them outside the US? I wonder how big the export market is for Sadowsky? There are two dealers in the whole of the UK and there are dealers in selected coutries around the world.

I don't know how big the Sadowsky name is in the UK, but here in Spain, among bassists, it's one of the top brands. I have also turned a few players on my area into Sadowsky fans.

I have sold a few and they are probably the easiest basses to sell used without losing much money (sometimes even earning some ).

Talkbass is a US forum with a majority of US based members first of all....

I just ordered my fourth one :hyper: (having sold the second one I had, about a year ago)

Played two youth services this morning. We go direct with an Aviom system and I have a pair of Westone UM2 in-ears. I already knew the bass sounded awesome through those from some time at home.

The bass sounded so stinking sweet in the house. (pulling out the buds) I've played other basses in that room that sounded meh and the other players have said they couldn't really hear me. Same sound guy as always and even had a loop track and extra guitar track to fill out the mix. The other musicians coming over from the adult service said it sounded great. Was grooving extra hard with the drummer because I was just loving the tone of this bass.

And as a kicker, everyone noticed how sweet it looked.

Rob, you weren't lying man. I just about crapped myself. I played the bass solo on Salvation is Here (Hillsong) just about the same, but it sounded so good that I may even have got close to nailing it. :p

I've been up since 6am and played for a couple hours and the AFC playoff is coming on, but I just wanna play my Sadowsky. Gonna have to get some good couch time.

This is EXACTLY the same "rig" I use in one of the worship gigs I play, though I'm about to upgrade to some livewire triple drivers. And yeah, these sound fantastic both up front and in the monitor system. I'm a happy guy. :)

Vic.. if you are going to go with Live wires you may want to check out http://www.fidelitycustomearphones.net/ he is the developer of that company.. they guy at Livewires has many many problems with delivery. I had a set, and i had many issues.. i went with the westones eventually .. and it was a world of difference in a good way.. i got ES2.. I didnt need a triple driver. I use the westones on gigs and Ipod.
What i like about them is the ends are soft and make much better seal than the solid plastic of others.
Also when you go to get the molds done. open you mouth as far as you can while the goo drys.. you wont be sorry in the end. you will have a tighter fit with better seal.

This is going to probably sound super anal-retentive, but I will ask anyway. I've been keeping one of my Sadowskys stored in its ultralite case in a vertical position. At tfirst, the strap lock on the bottom was not pressing into the padding at the base of the case (you know how there's that little cut-out to make room for the strap lock?) After a while, however, I noticed that the bass had sunken down into the padding a bit and the strap lock had been pushing slightly into the compressed foam. It made me wonder whether or not this was bad for the bass. Any thoughts?
