A WL 5 string will likely be quite compelling. I'd be interested to hear the difference between a PJ and a WL w/mid boosted.

5468's no slouch either, and alder/Brazilian/flame koa sounds like heaven to me. Sucks being a grown-up with a little bit of money and a whole family to help you spend it.
I'd like to hear that boost control. I can't imagine wanting to boost at 800hz on a Sadowsky400hz... that's always been in the 'nasal' area for me. I don't quite get it, but I guess Will digs it. Curious. I just can't quite imagine those frequencies boosted on these basses.
Wills preferred setting is 500hz, it's also the factory setting. I'm still new to the WL bass but what I'm hearing is that when you engage the mid control it just gives you more of what you already have. Just pumps your mids but doesn't really change the tone of the bass. I thought it sounded pretty good with the VTC turned down a bit. Haven't tried the bass in a live situation yet but I think it might work well for soloing when you just need that extra mid punch.
I Love my Will Lee. What I love the most is the neck, then the added fret. As far as the mid boost goes, well I rarely use it but its nice when I gig and can't cut in the mix. " Click " the little switch and BAM I can hear my self again. I certainly prefer by far the sound of the bass without the mid engage.
So far it only happen twice but I was happy to have it.

that Tort guard looks great. I've got a Vintage 4 that is basically identical to that with a white pearl guard on it. Looks cool.....but that tort one rocks. Good call. I'm thinking I need to send that bass off for a visit to THE shop and get a tort guard cut for it!

I use a Demeter compulater, Analog man Chorus, EHX octave pedal, Voodoo lab sparkle drive, 3leaf envelope filter, and a Sonic research tuner.
I leave the compressor on all the time. Its very transparent. That being said, I learned to play without a compressor and didnt start using one until about 10 years into my bass playing

Yeah, the more I look at 5468, the more I think I actually prefer it to the Will Lee. Man, both of those basses are beautiful. Two of the nicest Sadowskys of the last few years IMO. Whoever picks up either one is a very lucky individual!

Nice! When did you order it? how long is it taking to get this picture.
I am using the VT for my pick sound. It helps a bit to keep the pick sound as big as the finger sound when switching between pick and fingers.
It also acts as a speaker simulator when I engage the BB preamp and it tames the inherent buzzing treble of a distortion pedal in the DI/inear signal.
