Club Sadowsky!!!

I had NJ5 in my MV5 as well as the original Sadowsky SCs.
The Nordstrands have more lows and are a bit darker (perfect for a 100% pick player I'd say)
The Sadowsky SC are more articulate and respond a bit better to dynamics.

I am back to th original Sadowsky SCs. But I am keeping the Nordies, just in case :)

Cool, thanks. I might try the Sad SC on my MV4 instead of the HC (although I want to keep at least one bass 100% hum free).

Warning! Once you put those SC's in, you'll have a bit of trouble going back to HC's. :)

Seriously tho, regarding noise, the Sadowsky SC's are as quiet as I've ever heard any SC, and in fully blended mode, remember, that's a hum canceling "configuration", so that'll be dead silent. So unless you strongly favor or solo a pickup, it should not be a problem unless it's a particularly bad venue.

Thing is, the SC's have so much focus and bite as well as a full rich tone, that I rarely find myself doing more than blending or slightly favoring, so unless it's a REALLY bad venue where even a slight non-hum canceling blend is really noticeable, it's still not a problem at least for me.

I had the HC's swapped out of my latest Sadowsky prior to delivery, and I haven't regretted it one bit. That said, I have a set of HC's I can put in it if I want, otherwise, I also have an HC equipped bass, so worst case, I just bring two basses, but if I could afford to have only one bass, I could convert it if it really became a problem for the venues I played, but so far, it has not been that big of a deal.

Oh, also, qualifier, the basses I'm talking about are ash/maple. I do have some SC equipped alder/rosewood basses (tho not alder/morado) and I really dig those too.

One disclaimer... I do NOT dislike the HC's at all. I just somewhat prefer the SC's.

An acquaintance of mine is visiting the big apple sometime soon, actually seeking a new bass. Of course I told him to pay a visit to THE shop and while he's there (hopefully picking a bass) he'll bring me a SC set.
