Club Sadowsky!!!

Absolutely! Ash / Maple IS an excellent combo and my 5 string IS amazing!

IMG_0479.jpg

I recently got this beauty - Koa top, Mahogany body, Rosewood fingerboard

IMG_1144.jpg

Quite simply, THE best bass I have played / owned. Incredible warm tone, punchy / clear bottom end, AND it's a super light 7lbs or so... C-R-A-Z-Y!!!!!!

Sadowsky basses are incredible instruments and I am now planning my third!

I don't think there's a better instrument available or better people to deal with. Special thanks to Kevin and Roger!

Those are both absolutely orgasmic! :D
I can see this is going to be a very long 6-8 months for me. :crying:

These are two of the most amazing basses I've seen in one post! God! You chose wisely! Did you custom order those, or did you find them built and buy them? Wow. They just take my breath away! That Koa is out of this world!

If you ever want to sell that 5 string quilt laden JJ, PLEASE let me know!

Thanks guys! I have been really fortunate and just jumped when the update list was emailed out etc... both fantastic instruments in there own right and again, a credit to everything that is Sadowsky.

and BluesyCat, cheer up, the wait will be so absolutely worth it!

Hey basscollection its "Jesse" from the eden forum. I always was super jealous of your 5 string with quilted maple top now im dieing for that 4 string you have as well. You have by far the 2 best looking sadowskys ive seen.

I was thinkning today. That is often very dangerous for me, and today is no exception. I had this crazy thought, and I thought I should pop in here and get everyone's take. Ultimately, it's going to be my decision, but I was hoping that you guys could either talk me into this or talk me out of it, as I'm on the fence, as it were.

Anyway, enough with the formalities. I have a Sadowsky UV70 that is a KILLER bass. It is a bit on the heavy side, but it's managable. I have it in the classifieds for various reasons, but one being that I wanted to pick up an inexpensive bass to mod with Darkstars. Now, here's where it starts to get dangerous.

I thought, why not have someone (a pro-since this isn't exactly a 'cheap' project by any stretch of the imagination) install Darkstars in the Sadowsky. Since I LOVE the feel of this bass and I'm going to miss it dearly, why not hang onto it. You know, the money would be nice, but sooner or later I'm going to have to come to terms with the fact that I'm really not that responsible with managing my money. Plus, I've sold a few basses already and socked away some money for my son. Some were hard to say goodbye to, so I deserve a reward, right?

Do you think that the resale value would be affected greatly if I were to go ahead with this?

Here's a pic of the bass in question:

HI

My experience, Nick, with modding basses is that you kill resale. Especially a bass with a higher price tag like a Sadowsky, Lakland, etc. Guys are looking for these basses they way they were put together. Id do the pickup swap, rout, whatever in a another bass. Leave this as it is. Id grab your UV but Im putting together a real cool 5er at the moment. More news to come on that. Good luck with the sale. Wish I had 2k lying around to take it off you hands

Rob

So, where do I go to turn my badge in :hmm:?

Today, I sold my second (and last remaining) Sadowsky bass :( (the one on the right).

IMG_0757.jpg

Why? Simple really - I'm not a gigging bassist any more (departure from my last band coincided with the arrival of my first Sadowsky, oddly enough :p) and so I just don't need one!

I'm certainly not here to give it all of that "Meh, they're vastly over-rated" rubbish - far from it! Actually, I can easily see why so many semi-pro bassists find these instruments to be indispensible. The preamp is, for my money, largely what makes these basses really kick it live :) (in passive mode, I don't rate the tone as highly as a good vintage Fender, personally :hmm:).

On the positive side, my Sadowsky MV4 is going to somebody who's never owned a Sadowsky before and so the legacy of Roger is continued and (hopefully) strengthened :hyper:. I will continue to sing his praises to anyone who'll stand still long enough and quite possibly, will be back for another one of his basses, should I ever join another band :hmm:.

In the meantime, I'll continue to look in on the Sadowsky Owners Club for my bi-weekly fix of bass porn :smug:.

All the best,

HI

Hey F32, you should start a "I crapped out of the Sadowsky club" club. Start a thread on it. You, bigmikeW, etc. LOL

Bunch of traitors. LOL

Good luck. You'll find another band super soon

Rob

:p Now there's an idea!

To be honest though, I wouldn't put myself in the same league as BigMikeW :hmm:. At least he got to use his Sads in public  - that's more than I can say :(.

No, as I said before, it's not a case of sour grapes with me :), it's more the realisation that I was owning a Ferrari and trying to use it on my driveway :p!

You get the picture ;).

Hey Fender32, I probably will sell/trade the M24-5 I got from you too.
Simply not my sound.

But I'll definitely keep my MV5 (similar to yours)!

HI

LOL. Of course I get it. Just testing your sense of humor. See u back in the club soon

Rob

WT_ Rob? Normally I'm with you on these things but there is no place for "humor" or jocularity in Sadowsky threads, nor
anywhere in TB. I'm tired of this banter and "The Club". I'm outta here, trading my Sadowskys for the Holy Grail of
musical instruments.

I present to you the apogee of musical instruments,
the zenith of tone,
the meridian of harmonics,
and I think it can get can low notes, too:

Why do I think you are looking at me like this:

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Gilles! What's up with that bass!? Is it cursed, or what !?

I thought that you'd really get a kick out of that one :hmm:. Oh well, they're still very hard to come by in Europe, so you'll have no trouble getting rid of it. Sorry it didn't work out :(.
