I saw it on the home page of the Sadowsky site. It is some serious pub, for sure.

I have no need or interest in defending my position for what I play. Nor should you.

In the right setting, I could play a four all night and be as happy as a bug in a rug. I do it all the time on my DB gigs. But, if I am playing a Gospel number in Eb or D, there's no getting around not having those root notes in the "bass" range without alternate tuning, which I absolutely despise. So, I bought a five.

With regard to "sensibility" - you have pretty much nailed my feelings about that in the section within the darkened brackets.
The "discussion" that I believe you're referring to is not the one I was after. I was hoping to get a "clinic" happening about GROOVE.
I don't want to change the name of the thread - I just wanna talk about PLAYING bass for awhile.
And NO - you're not coming off strong bro. That's maybe what's required between friends sometimes. ;)

I just flat out to refuse to believe or accept that "less is more".
There are too many examples out there that groove harder with a ton of notes going on, than a LOT of stuff that has next to none.

I'm not saying that someone's approach taken the "less is more" style is wrong, not at all. If that's what works for you, great.
I just giggle when "groove" is pretty much defined by that mind set.

And, quite frankly, that position is amplified by other musicians towards bass players all the time.

Don't get me wrong, I play what needs to be played, and I do my best to play the "right notes". But I never adhear to "well, it will groove more if I play less".
Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't.

But equal footing SHOULD be given to both IMO......
