Club Sadowsky!!!

Got some serious sadowsky GAS. Found a UV70 with alder/RW that I love, but it is 10.4lbs. I had an alder Fender FMT with pau ferro board that I loved tonally so I am real gassy. The weight is not huge issue, but just curious if all the UV70 uses the morado (pau ferro) board as well. I am know Roger has stated that other metros had the morado but coudn't remeber for sure on the UV70.

I wish I could compare it to my NYC with ash/morado/SC to see where the alder/morado/HCs would put it tonally.

Madagascar and Brazilian rosewood do sounds and feels pretty similar to me, and Madagascar would be the best substitute of Brazilian Rosewood if you wanna save some bucks for a rosewood board.

of cos, Madagascar tends to look reddish than Dark brown brazilian rosewood.

I own both and I find the Brazilian "darker, smoother, warmer" sounding the the Mad.

Then when I play a morado I feel like the Mad is "darker, smoother, warmer" sounding.

Then when I play a maple I feel like the morado is....

You get the picture.

Thanks for that. The lick sounds great on it's own but it's not until it is under the rest of the music that you realize how well the whole thing grooves.

Hey nice groove by the way on your song ANNIE, i like it alot, sweet groove there for sure, which SADOWSKY where you playing on there, sounds nice and tight.

I had a Celinder that was this exact look, and it is just beautiful. Totally dig it. A buddy of mine has a Metro UV in that spec, and it looks even better in person. Love it! The perloid looks great also, but a little too 'blingy' for me personally. That simple white or parchment or mint guard really works with that whole look for me, especially if you have an ash body with a lot of grain and pop to it.

We've all been there. Kind of like those white belts and platform shoes in the 70's. Much of what seemed OK at the time comes back to bite us in the you know what:D

Awesome!!! Thanks guys! I thought it would look nice. I have an extra black pickguard and a friend of mine has a white one he wants to trade. I wanted to see how it would look ahead of time. Thanks again!

Actually, it WAS the pearl (though a black guard was also with it, maybe the original.)

As you know, that Celinder never did have a white guard, but yeah, I'd like to have seen that. While it didn't really bug me, the pearl was kinda' over the top, and I think I may have preferred a white guard myself. Thankfully, it's a LOT easier to get a white guard for a Sadowsky than it would have been to get a white guard for that bass, which is why I never got around to it. :D The black guard looked great on the body, but the pearl blocks just made that a total misfit for me.

+1 A bit too much bling for me with the perloid. Just like tort with a highly figured top, just too much going on visually that IMO doesn't work with the grain of the ash and clearcoat. IMO there. White with the clear finish, or mint or parchment with a tinted clearcoat is IMO just perfect for that look.
