Thanks for asking! I like it a lot! The only real unanswered question is that I haven't heard it with the band yet, just in the bedroom. We were supposed to get together a week ago, but somebody got sick (not covid), and now it looks like we won't be rehearsing next week, either. I really want to hear how it sits in a band mix.
Have you played your Sandberg with a band yet, @lowdownthump ? If so, what are your impressions?

@lowdownthump, btw, I know your bass is different than mine, even though they're both sort of TMs. I wonder how different the Ida Nielsen sounds compared to a TM with Delanos. Has anybody out there compared the two, just out of curiosity?

The Ida has Sandberg Black Label pickups which are super responsive and punchy with great clarity throughout the range. The lows are thick and full , juicy miss, and very present trebles. To my ears the Black Labels have more punch and lows compared to Delanos. Delanos are nice too, just different. Im not sure if your bass has the vibration treatment from Sandberg. The Ida basses come with light relic and the vibration treatment. So the wood sounds more broken in when new. Very resonant.

My Ida does not have the same output as my Ray5 Special or the Sire but it still sounds great . No complaints what so ever. Im not fighting against loud lead guitars. So if that is what you are subject to, I really can't tell you how that might work out for you.

My TM-4 doesn't have the vibration treatment. I keep reading that Delanos are more modern sounding, and that may be true. But I find it almost P-Bass -like if I favor the neck pickup, leave the treble at the detent, boost the bass a bit and have the back pickup in single -coil mode. That's through a Little Mark head with some Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator engaged and a 1X15 MarkBass cab. (I usually play out with a 4X10, sometimes in conjunction with the 1X15.)
It's still articulate, but it's really got some booty, as Johnny Lee Long would say!
I'm in a soul band, so I'm doing the Jamerson/Duck Dunn thing with one guitar, sax, keys and drums.

I’ve compared the Delano pickups to the black label.
The Delano’s are modern and glassy on the top end. Very transparent
The black labels are a little less modern and give the bass a bit more woody sound.
I prefer the black labels

The Plus pickups in my Grand Dark sound amazing. Hard to say much about the top end since it had the darkglass tone capsule and no real treble frets. I wish they offered them in other models.

I have TM4 Custom order with Darkglass Tone Capsule. Totally different then stock preamp. Love Tone Capsule so much, and do not miss Hi EQ at all.

Hi - I'm a new Sandberg owner. I recently bought an older (2012) Sandberg California TM4 Masterpiece with Delanos. I just swapped those out for a set of Black Labels and really love the new sound.

Anyone know how I can get a pick guard for a first generation California TM4? I emailed Sandberg a couple times and never got a reply.

So, I might be crazy, but, I think it looks kind of cool with the "ghost" pickguard on there now ;)

My understanding is that the California I pickguards aren't a standard design and they all differ slightly. For this reason Sandberg advise that a 3rd party solution will be necessary.

California II pickguards are a standard size and can be bought off the shelf.

Do they Electra Series (from Indonesia) and particularly the TT model, use the same pickups and/or pre-amps as the German models? Just wondering how much I might be missing here.
