Should I be assuming by now that nobody else finds their volume pot less resistant than the others?

Checked it for ya, and yes I have exactly the same on my TM4, and it's only a month or so old.
I've actually not noticed it before though

But it does not 'wobble'...

Thanks Adriaan, much appreciated. The 'wobble' is minimal and only really noticeable when I removed the knob from the pot stem. It's mainly the lower resistance I'm curious about.

I've have owned California TM4 Hardcore aged almost one year now, and today i got another Sandberg...all black Sandbird from 2011....love those!!!

Yes the Volume push/pull poti is looser on most Sandberg basses, even on mine, around 6/7 years old. I don't see a problem with it and don't know how you accidentally touch the knob while playing, even slapping.
The benefit is that you can flick the knob shortly and have it turned up all the way.

If you really are disturbed with it being loose you could get a little felt and put it between the poti and the knob. I suppose you play the bass mostly with an active preamp. You could also open the battery compartment and have a look at the poti to see if you can fix it to the way you'd like it to be.

I have a question for the group.
I have a California TM4. Does anyone know if the pickguards on the TM models are the same as a standard Fender Jazz pickguard (shape and hole pattern)? Sandberg will not answer my e-mails. Of course I am not writing them in German either.

you can place an order to any Sandberg dealer, you don't need to ask to Sandberg guys, check some website like thomann, I saw the pickguard in stock sometimes, you can ask them as many as you want!

You could try the Sandberg distributor over there. Alternatively you could get one cut from a template of the old one if you have it.

Suggestion: write again saying you'd like to buy a pick guard, and include a translation from google translate. Even if Google mangles it a bit, if they get the idea they're selling something any halfway decent company should get back to you, I would have thought.

I did find one (just one) on Thomann, buts its a Tortoise. Just not what I am looking for.

you can get a pickguard from every sandberg dealer. sure, the most won't have them in stock but at least they can order from sandberg (and sandberg ships immediately). and btw, everyone @ sandberg speaks english if you want to get faster replies I can only suggest to contact them via Fb instead of sending an email. I'm responsible for their official Fb page and usually answer within a few hours.

Never had a problem with the pots on any of my 3 Sandbergs.. Sounds like an easy thing to fix for a luthier/ bass tech tho.

I bought the Black one second hand and fell in love! Sold two Basic 4's that I had previously to fund the Virgin White one (which has an ebony board), which arrived just before Christmas.

I've also had a Basic 4 in Natural/rosewood, a Basic 4 Greenburst/rosewood and a California PM4 in Blackburst/rosewood.

Since I bought my first one I haven't looked back! They are just perfect for me and I sold everything else!
