Hi...I've been on a search for a thin necked fretless 4 string bass and I wondered if some of you who own them could talk about the playability of the Sandberg fretless Thinline Series,as well as the tone, and if you ever found any other bass that you liked that was comparable with a thin neck(I have small hands-too small even for a Jazz bass or a MTD Z4)...I have a feeling I may have found the bass I need ,now if I can only find THE bass...Mucho Thanks...Peace...DAcat

When I pickup up my Sandberg from the shop I gave a Thinline that was there a ride, and it felt great. -Really- thin neck, very defined and precise sound (due to the Delano pickup). It feels really great. This will surely be my first fretless.

Attention Sandberg experts:
There is a guy offering me this bass on a trade. I do not know all the details of it and year of production. he is offering it to me in a trade and I need to know used how much this bass is worth please so I can make comparisons to my bass.

I noticed this has Sandberg pick ups and other Sandbergs have Delanos... is the Delano one an upgrade? what can I expecto of these? are they arecive anactive elecs? or passive pickups and active elecs?

Sounded terrible... good for maybe Jazz, but that was it. Even had the pickups replaced, but still wasn´t happy. So now I have a Sadowsky and a LeFay and am happy. They cover all my needs.

Odd. What pickups were in it at first (Sandberg or Delano) and which ones did you replace them with?

Both Sandberg and Delano pickups are imho terrible. I had Haeussel custom wounds put in. They made a big difference in clarity and bottom punch, but the whole package wasn´t my cup o tea...

That bass is bloody beautiful. I understand where you're coming from with the tone, looks like a very 'modern' pickup placement. That bass with a couple of J's in 60's positions would have been great.

I did sell the one in the classifieds, great bass, but also couldn't get with the tone. I'm playin on a LeCompte P-bass at the moment, much better for me, and funnily enough fits into more genres than my old Jazz basses.

That cocobolo California is really beautiful, a pitty that you had to get rid of it.

As to trujo777, yes there is a diference between the Delano and Sandberg pickups. Before Sandberg used the Dalanos as standard until they started winding theire own pickups.
I really couldn't hear a significant difference between the two (they are quite similar). The Delanos are not really an upgrade, I think you can get them without extra charge. My sandberg is equipped with the ones from sandberg and I'm happy with them.
The electronics are all from Glockenklang.
