I guess one of those rotten JJ tubes shorted out and blew some resistors I was going to change those tubes but I got lazy JJ tubes sound nice but they are known for going belly up from time to time although I know some people swear by them I have had bad luck with them man I'm still kicking myself.

I wouldn't let it concern you too much. There's a few hundred out in the wild now on a first-run of a product, there's gonna be some growing pains and kinks to work out. Very few reports of units of issues, it just seems otherwise on here because TBers are pretty vocal people. Just enjoy it.

+1 I've learned to take a lot of complaints of reliability and whatnot with a grain of salt on gear forums. people don't say much when everything is going just fine.

True that, but I would be very skeptical about buying one now. The price point to me is absurd. I can kind of stomach 500, but I would want an actual amp if I'm spending 700. That's just me.

I've had a LOT of custom, one off, first run...etc pedals and never had one catch fire. I had one blow up because I did something wrong, that's it. Maybe tubes are more risky? I dunno.

That's not my case and the first issues I had I never said a word not one and because I got the sale price I paid for shipping out of my own pocket to have it shipped back to Ben. I have been one of the biggest cheerleaders of these preamps look at my posts in this thread and others I jump at every chance to talk about the Meatsmoke because it sounds awesome but I'm pissed because I saw smoke coming out of my preamp not little whiffs but "smoke" and had I not been home I would have had a serious fire in my 113 year old home so for the sixty or seventy posts I used to promote the Meatsmoke I have earned the right to discuss what has happened to me and if anyone takes what I say with a grain of salt so be it.

It's not that what you're saying isn't valued or appreciated, quite the opposite. Just reminding people there's nothing to panic over. Even solid state pedals with few parts malfunction from time to time. Semi-delicate components are in this thing, I'm surprised the number of issues isn't sliiightly higher, especially being a first run product.
