no, they cant drill kahler trems because of a deal using hipshot trems, or thats the way it was explained to me
got the body in today......3 cracks in the finish/wood.....giant dent in the back, 3 chips in paint.
gotta send it back......estimated time of re-arrival:

That's unacceptable. My condolences.
Talked to Bob at Warmoth, theyre sending out a UPS truck on monday to pick it up, free of charge, I asked for a discount on the price since Im now gonna have to wait even longer and probably not get to use it in my Talent Show for FFA/School, he didnt give me a reply to that one.

Id post pics of the other cracks, but the camera's flash hides em, trust me......theyre pretty bad.

What the hell happened? That's ridiculous that
A. They'd ship it out like that

B. They'd pack it so poorly that it would be damaged so.

yeah, for the prices Warmoth charges for their bodies, they ought to be flawless. I'd be making a pretty big fuss, too.
personally, the packaging is what did it in IMO....one layer of that foam wrap around the body and about 3-4 layers of cardboard right on top of that, with probably 15 packing peanuts on the outer edges....

The good news is that the bass is looking KILLER. Sorry it will have to be delayed for a few more months.

I've heard from other people on the web about warmoth bodies getting damaged in shipping because there packaging is very weak. I'm building a bass right now too and have everything but the body. When I got the neck it was put in a thin box with some foam peanuts in there and that"s it and this was a $350.00 neck! Luckily it was ok. I mean come on warmoth charge me a couple extra dollars and wrap it good in bubble wrap then put it in peanuts in the box. I've also heard that there customer service is great so hopefully they'll take care of you.
Hallelujah!, neck packaging is indeed pretty sorry, the neck you see above is from Warmoth, it was also shipped like yours, and it was $400, the box was alittle kinked up, but the neck was/is perfect.

That sucks. I've never had anything but flawless finishes from them.
body just got picked up, good thing I was home sick today because they came 2 hours early

Sorry to hear this man. I'm still waiting on my sherwood green jazz body (not warmoth), should be here in a few weeks. I hope Warmoth can sort this for you right away.
In response to your poll question, I figure they picked it up quickly at their expense - that's a good start.
They should also give you priority on a remake.
I don't see why they should offer you a discount, as they're making it right at their expense. They should make it a priority however.

I'm not sure why some of you guys are blaming Warmoth for the finish damage, obviously Warmoth wouldn't ship anything out with any amount of damage. This is the result of the delivery service poorly shipping the body, how in the world can you rely on cardboard to protect a body against a few hundred pounds of direct pressure to cause a massive dent of that size? Poorly packaged or not, there is no way cardboard can protect against this kind of carelessness.
I've gotta say if the body wasn't packed well, it HAS to be the fault of Warmoth... even if they outsource the packaging, they still get to choose which packager they use right?
As for the tremolo, why not go with the trem that they offer/support? I can' imagine that you'll be happy with a home-job on the kahler trem routing...

Robert, I just want you to know I'm not trying to take sides on the issue, but just to point out a little perspective on this mishap.
I do not believe proper packaging could help resolve a dent of that stature. It takes a great deal of weight to put a dent through wood with a fully cured nitrocellulose lacquer / polyurathane / polyester finish. How much exactly? I'm not sure, but I can guarantee that cardboard wouldn't be able to prevent something like that. It wouldn't matter if it was USPS or Fedex delivering the package, when it's in their hands it's their responsibility to get the package to the desired destination in the condition it was originally shipped in. However, it is Warmoth's responsibility to fix the incompetence of what the delivery service has caused. Again, not to nitpick, but I do not believe Warmoth should be receiving flack for this instance.

in the past few months i have become pretty satisfied with my wood working abilities, so we'll see how it goes.
