Coffee Lovers

My wife and I have been drinking mass quantities of the Starbucks' Arabian Mocha Sanani, but I'm eagerly watching this thread for suggestions of the "good stuff". And +1 to buying whole bean and grinding seconds before you brew - it's a noticeable difference.

I'm partial to Sumatras and Sulawesis. I get mine locally from a place called Gorilla (they ship) Link Removed and when I'm feeling rich I order from my friend in Boston Invalid Link Removed he's got a great aged Sumatra and his Yrgacheffes really good as are his Kenyans and Rwandans (when he get them) are superb. I haven't tried his South and Central Americans, but the guy knows his coffee.

Some of my favourite coffees:

Arvid Nordquist Reko fair trade coffee
Jacob's Krönung
Jacob's Meister Röstung
Paulig Parisien - For café au lait (coffee + hot milk 50/50)

These are all dark roast coffees. I prefer to have my coffee with a generous amount of milk and some sugar, and then a dark roast allows the coffee taste to cut through better. The first one on my list is my favorite - quite fruity and sweet taste, different from all other coffees I've tried.

For espresso, I like the Segafredo Intermezzo a lot. It's not too robust like most other brands are for my taste. If I make something else out of the espresso, like a cappuccino, I might use a more robust espresso.

I'm not a huge drinker but I enjoy Starbucks (though I'm told this is sacrilege by self-proclaimed "coffee afficonados"). I'll drink whatever I want! :smug: Though I usually go for hot chocolate anyway!

I hear ya. I actually drink Starbucks sometimes, but am a bit of a coffee snob. Starbucks, no matter what varietal, seems to have an odd charred flavor to it. It beats the hell out of Maxwell House though.

George Howell is the Beastmaster of coffee purveyors!
I remember when I moved to Boston 16 years ago. I went to The Garage on JFK St. in Harvard Square, and my nose found the Coffee Connection...the smell grabbed me, drew me in, smacked me around and gave me a wedgie!
It was the first and last place I've been to that I trust to give me a superlative cuppa.
Anything African....esp. the Yirgacheffe.
:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:
I miss that place sooooo much...and now you tell me George is back in business?
Bless you!

Edit: I see he's been doing this since 2004....and I missed it?!?!?!?
