US: West Colorado Club

There are so many awesome shows this summer that I've run out of damn money... So far I have this going on:

6/16 - Psychedelic Furs
6/19 - Westord Music Festival (Superchunk!!!)
7/31 - Joan Jett (in Council Bluffs, IA)
8/25 - Slayer & Megadeth
9/9 - Pavement

Also probably going to the Modest Mouse show at Broomfield because there are no service fees!!! Want to go to Tom Petty but those tickets are damned expensive. I'd like to go to that Melvins show too. Hmm.

Wow, wife just called and told me she just bought us tickets for Alice in Chains in October. Funny thing is that it's my birthday present (my birthday is Monday). That's gonna be a long wait!

...and we have tickets to see Weird Al Yankovic in July! He actually has some amazing musicians backing him.

We've had a few boutique shops through the years (First Bass and GuitarX among them) that have not been able to survive. GuitarX may still be around, not as a brick and mortar operation. I think the chain retailers, along with very small neighborhood shops that cater to music students, are what we have these days.

Yeah, I really miss Guitar-X. I talked with him on the phone. He has an internet store out of his house, and does not carry much inventory (and doesn't take trades).

Happyface: We could certainly do a trip up to the big city some time. (Pa might let me go after the chores get done.)

Yeah, I really miss Guitar-X.

Same here. It was a really cool shop, lots of nice gear.

I heard that Drum City Guitarland (off of 44th and Garrison) is a pretty decent shop, but I've never been there. Been meaning to check it out for a while now, maybe I should do that tomorrow. :) They're listed as an Orange dealer (a little surprising), but how much they have in stock is the REAL question.

I wish we had someplace that wasn't just run-of-the-mill stuff. I'm bored with the same ol' gear I see in Guitar Center, and even "common" bass stuff from companies like EHX and MXR are actually "special order." :hmm:

*sigh* Sorry... /rant.

5sg.
